In adjourned regular session of :he Board of Trustees of
the City of Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.Black,
F.O'Hale,G.E.Lawrence and C.A.Rich. Absent:J.".B1odgett. President
Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of June 17,1912,wer: read and
approved.
The application of J.M.Prentice for a permit to erect a
dancing platform on SE Ger. of Sacramento and Locust Streets.was re-
fused for the reason that the permit contem,lated a structure 40 feet
wide and the lot was only 35 feet wide.
A communication from the Secretary of the Volunteer Fire
Compa*:y.advising the Board of the election of E.H.Stark as Chief;FP.
Krumb as Assistant Chief; and J.L.Pickering as Second Assistant Chief.
was read,and,on motion of Hale,seconded by 31ack.the-electi:n of the
foregoing officers was confirmed.
In the natter of the application of City Street Improvement
Company for a permit to improve W.Pine Street :2etween School and
Church Streets,the Street Committee reported the proposed pavement
as satiseactory.and recommended that the permit be gaanted. On nation
of Rich,seconded by Black.the report of the committee was accepted
and the permit granted by t_e affirmative votes of Trustees Black,
Hale.Lawrence and Rich. Absent and not voting: 3lodgett.
Street Committee reported having deeds to the _•.roposed ex-
tension of North School Street from De Force Ave. to the North line
of the Moran -i -andel Addition. Said deeds were presented.axd It was
moved by Hale.seconded by Rich.that the map of North School Street
as prepared by Engineer McAfee be adopted as the official nap of said
street,and that the deeds to the land embraced in said street be
accepted and filed for record,which notion was carried by the affirm-
ative votes of Black.Hale.Lawrence and Rich. Absent and not voting:
Blodgett.
In the matter of petitions for the opening of Lee Ave and
Pleasant Ave.,the Street Committee t^at.in their judgement,the pet-
itions be denied. On motion of Blach:.seconded by Hale.the report of
the committee was adcpted.and the petitions denied -by the affirmative
votes of Black,Hale,Lawrenee and Rich. :.t -sent a:_d not voting: Blodgett.
Trustee Hale suggested that the Boy Scouts wanted the City
lot on S.Sacramento Street to carp or the 7 urth of July.The request
was granted.

An invitation from.. Merchants' Association to attend their
meeting on June 25 was received.and.on motion of Rich.ac epted and
the Clerk irstructed.to notify the Association.
Inspector Hepper recommended that a.circuit—breaker De put
in at t1:e septic tang_ to protect the motor.
On motion of Rich,it was ordered that a warrant be drawn. on the
Water Fund in favor of the Light Fund for $1500.00 to pay for power
used in pumping from Jan.1 to June 30,1912.
City Engineer McAfee suggested that the following fees be
established:
Engineering for private parties,$1.00 per hour,minimun $2.50;
Engineering street work under private contract,3-"3;
Drawing and drafting,$6.00 per day of 8 hours;
Copying maps,$.25 per square foot.
On motion of Black,seconded by Rich,the s_+hedule cf fees as
recommended was adopted by the affirmative votes of Black,Eatrence
and Rich. Present and not voting: Hale.
It was moved by Rich that the City buy a theodolyte and
a Y level now in possession of Engineer L cAfee.ard pay .gash for
the sane taking advantage of the cash discounts. Carried.
Black and Hale were instructed to go to the City to buy
furniture for the new municipal building.
On motion of Black.Trustee Rich was authorized to complete
the specifications for painting new building and receive tenders
for the same.
A letter was received form the State Board cf Health,stat—
ing that the sewer system of Lodi was not working successfully.and
asking for a report on the same. Referred to Public Utilities Comm.
