In adjourned regulars session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi.the following trustees being present: C.A.B1ack,J.M. Blodgett,F.O.Hale and C.A.Rich. Trustee Rich was chosen. President Pro Tem. The minutes of the meeting of April 22,1912,were read and approved. The following appliactions for building permits were read and granted: W.A.Spooner,dwelling on block 38; E.L.Davis,improveme:ts to dwg.at 218 S.$chool St. Communications from Commercial Printing Co. and Industrial Accident Board were read a:d filed. The application of J.W.McAfee,C.E..for the position of C1tg- Engineer was read and filed. Mr.Harry McGinn of the Hannan Patrol stated that his people wanted to ee:.ablish a patrol of two ::len in this city.to be paid by the Merchants and deputized by the City. Said he had interviewed many merchants and that they were in favor of it. Matter tabled. W.J.Crane presented catalogue of street sweepers, a price of $650.00 each. On motion of Trustee Blodgett.it was ordered that the Marshal, Fire Clief and five firemen be present at the Opera Meuse on the night of the Baby Opera. The matter of a uniform wage fol unskilled labor was taken and,without a motion,it was agreed that the scale of wages for unskilled labor be $2.00 per day. St.Supt.Colaman stated that the Gas Co.would excavate on S.Scaramento St.an.d wanted the city to take the dart.Ref.to St. Committee. It was moved by Hale,seconded by Black,that the Marshal purchase a stop—watch to catch motor vehicles exceeding the speed limit. Carried unanimously. Trustee Hale was appointed a committee of one to interview the Pres.of Merchants' Association in regard to Hanan Patrol. Engineer Tunelty re,orted that Southern Pacific Company / had signed the necessary waiver to change of grade- on S.Sacramento Street. Mr.McAfee stated that he would do the engineering for the city at a salary of 1-,50.00 per month 1=i r ) It was moved by Blodgett,seconded b.' Hala,.•hat the follow— ing salaries be paid in the fire department: Chief,*20.00 per month only; First Assistant Chief,5.00 per month only; Second Assistant Chief,45.CC per month only; Firemen,$1.0C per hour for the first hour and t.50 per hour for each additional hour of active service at any fire.
