In regular session of the Board of Trustees 'of the City
of Lodi,the following trustees being present: J.M.Blodgett,F.O.Hale.
G.E.Lawrence.C.A.Rich and L.Villinger. President Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of April 9th..1912 were read
and approved.
A communication from W.W.S.Butler of Western States Gas
and Electric Co.,in reference tc pole line on Sacramento Street,was
read and filed.
In reference to the matter of posting bilis as called to
attention of the Board by the Merchants' Association,a reply was
directed to the Association advising it that the State Law already
covered the point,and citing the law.
The claim of Western States Gas & E1.Co. of $28.80 for
Larch power at septic tanx was allowed ar.d ordered paid. The claim
of Western States Gas & Electric Company of $1000.00 for March
power,not accompanied by meter readings.was allowed and ordered paid
in the sum of g750.00.
The Board then proceeded to canvass the returns of the
Municipal Election held on April 8th..1912.and having completed the
canvass the following resolution was read.and,on _:,otion,adopted as
read by the affirmative votes of Trustees Blodgett,Hale,Lawrence,
Rich and Villinger:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS.on the eighth day of Apri1,1912,a General Municipal
Election was held in the City of Lodi,as authorized by Section 852
Chapter VII of "Ar. Act to Provide for the Organization,Incorporation
and Government of Municipal Corporations".approved March 13th..1883;
and,
WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi have
convened in regular session in the City Hall of said City,said hall
being the usual place of meeting of said Board,on the 15th.day of
Apri1,1912.for the purpose of canvassing the returns of said elect—
ion;
Now,therefore.on ca:vass of said returns,the said Board
of Trustees of the City of Lodi do declare the purposes and result
of said election to be as follows:
That there were two election precincts.viz.: Consolidated
Election Precinct No.l and Consolidated Election Precinct No.2;
That the where number of ballots cast ir. ac•nso1=�.ated Elect—
ion Precinct No.1 was Two Hundred a»:d Eighty—nire,ar.d in Consolidated
Election Precinct No.2 Four hundred and Sixty—two;
That the whole number of ballots cast in the entire City
was Seven Hundred and Fifty—one;
That the propositions voted upon were the election of Two
Members of the Board of Trustees.a City Clerk and a City Treasurer;
That Chas.A.Black received for Member of the Board of
Trustees Three Hundred and Fifty—four votes;
That Julius Bogdan received for Member of the Board of
Trustees Ninety—five votes;
That T.M.Littleton received for Member of the Board of
Trustees Sixty—two votes;
That S.W.McCleary received for Member cf the Board of
Trustees Three Hundred and Fort:- votes;
That Chas.A.Rich received for ::ember of the Board of
Trustees Fcur Hundred and Ten votes;
That John M.}!cM;ahon received for City Clerk. Six Hundred
and Nine votes;
That F.A.Lougherty received for City Clerk One vote;
That Knox Thorpe received for City Clerk One vote;
That William H.Lorenz received for City Treasurer Six
Hundred and Five votes;
We,therefore,as Trustees of the City of Lodi,declare that
Chas.A.Black and Chas.A.Rich were duly elected Members of the Board
of Trustees of the City of Lodi—they having received the highest Rx
number of votes for said offices; that John }:f.cMahor was duly elected
City Clerk of the City of Lodi.he having received the highest number
of votes for that office; that William H.Lerenz was duly elected City
Treasurer of the City of Lodi.he having received the higher, number
of vote for that office.

Chas.A.Black and Chas.A.Rich qualified as Trustees,City
Clerk.J.M.McMahon,administering the oath c: office.
For President.G.E.La:rrence was nominated by Trustee Rich.second—
ed by Trustee B1ack.and elected by acclamation.
J.1.`.1.'c1.'ahon. qualified as City C1erk,Presidert Lawrence
administering the oath of office.
The Bond of J.M.DMPahon as City Clerk in the sum of $1000.00,
with Royal Indemnity Company as surety was apTroved by the Board
and filed with the President of the Board.
The Bond cf W.H.Lorenz as City Treasurer in the sun of $10000.00
with the following sureties was approved and filed with the City
Clerk: G.W.LeMoln,T.C.Shaw.E.E.Mcrse.J.B.Cory,S.H.Zim erman,
W.H.Thompson and H.E.Welch each in the sum of 3000.CO.
J.W.Shattuck of the Cleanup Committee stated that Central
California Traction Company would haul the rubbish gathered fcr
$5.00 per car,with an unloading charge of $2.50.and asked if the
City would pay these charges. On motion. cf Trustee Rich,seconded by
Trustee 31odgett,the Board agreed to pay such charges as above set
forth.
L.V.Peterson of the Cleanup Committee asked for the use of
the City teams and drivers i:: hauling rubbish. Referred. to the
Stra't Superintendent.
Matter of extending sewer through alley bac:: of Dougherty
property or. N.Sacramento Street.and the matter of the sewer in alley
tf block 16 were referred to the Committee on Sanitation.
The applicatio:. of H.B.Coleman for appointment as City
Marshal was read.
On notion of Trustee Hale,secorded by Trustee Blodgett,
H.B.Coleman was,by the affirmative votes of Trustees Black.Blodgett,
Hale,Lawrence and Rich,duly appointed City Yarshal.
President Lawrence in a neat speech presen-ed to retiring
trustee Leon Villinger,as a token of esteem and appreciation from
the other members of the Board,a beautiful rocker.
On rotion,the Board adjourned u..til April 22,1912.at the
usual hour and place.
