In adjourned regularasession of the Board of Trustees of
thy- City of Ldl.the following trustees being present: J.W.Blodgett,
G.E.Lawrence,C.A.Rich and L.S/illinger. Absent:..C.Hale.?resident
Lawrence presiding.
The minutes of the meeting of Feb.19,1912,were read and
approved.
Jas.Toy was granted a permit to construct a dwel_ing and
barn on lots 182 of block 5.
Mr.J.H.Leary of Central California Tra_tion Company stated
that his company would like to procure a portion of the lot owned
by the City at the SE.Cor.of Lodi Ave.and Sacramento Street,so that
they could build a "Y" and thus get their trax in the enter of the
street. The matter was referred to the street committee.
The bond of C.I.Rice for the faithful performance of hi••
cor.tract,in the sun of $v2000.00.guaranteed by a demand certificate
of deposit for $2000.00,was read and,cn motion of Trustee Rich,ap-
proved.
The bond of C.I.Rice for the payment of material ren and
labor,in the sum of $20C0.00,gua:•anteed by a demand certificate of
deposit,was read,and,on motion of Trustee Blodgett,approved.
The :ratter of insurance liability was taken up,and referred
to Attorney Jones.
RESOLUTION.
The following resolution was read.ard,on motion of Trustee
Blodgett,adopted by unanimous vote:
Whereas,The zrowth in population and consequent increase in
business in the City of Lodi and surrounding country in the past few
years has necessitated extensive municipal improvements,including
city water and electric light works,and sewerage system (costing
te130,00C), macadamized streets in the business section (costing
$40,000), a new union high school building and grounds (costing
5165,000),the building of cenent sidewalks over a great portion of
the city and the erection of many new and substantial buildings for
the accon odation of rapidly increasing business,the facilities now
providthd by the government for conducting postal business in the •
City of Lodi have become entirely inadequate,therefcre be it
Resolved,That the City Trustees of the City of Lodi do hereby
request the Postmaster General to take action in the immediate future
to provide.in a convenient location,new and enlarged quarters for
the Post Office,tc be eouipped with new and modern conveniences for
the transaction of postal business in the City of Lodi; and b9it further.
Resolved,That this request be transmitted to Congressman J.C.
Needham,calling his attention to the fact that the need is urgent.
and asking him to present the same to the Post Office Department
with his recommendation for early action.
The claims of Ed.Hoover (511.00) and Jas.;,!arlow(e17.50) were
ordered paid.

Inspector Hepper asked for permission to get 24 catch basin
grates,three man—hole rings and covers,and 500' of 6" S.G.V.Pipe.
Referred .to the Sewer .Committee.
Matter of motor for the pumping.plant was referred to Supt.
Henning.
On motion,of Trustee Hlodgett,the certified check of C.I.Rice
for $450.00 was ordered returned to hira.
On motion of Trustee Rlch,E.E.Deaver was authorized to place
$3500.00 insurance on, the new municipal building.
