The -Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular
session at 8:10 p.m., there being present Trustees Black, Keeney,
Folendorf and Deaver.
Hale being absent Trustee Keeney was chosen to act as president
of the Board pro tem. - •
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Deaver, Sup-
erintendent Henning was instructed to place a street light at the
east end of Lancaster Court.
The Shell Company of California was granted permission to erect
a service station on the North side of Elm street on the east 66 feet
of lot 6, block 20, the building to be constructed of wood and glass,
20 ft x 20 ft in size, the equipment of gasoline and distillate tanks
to be placed underground.
A communication was received from the State Board of Health re-
quiring the city to apply for permit to operate a swimming pool in
conformity with the new state law. The matter was referred to Superin-
tendent Ferguson, the City Engineer and the City Clerk for their atten-
tion.
Superintendent Ferguson of the Municipal Baths submitted an in-
formal report for the month of July showing the receipts to have been
$1181.51 and expenses $$527.67.
A communication from the City Marshal calling the Board's atten-
tion to the blockading of sidewalk spaces by fruit companies, asking
as to the advisability of prohibiting the parking of automobiles in
front of the Tokay theatre and bringing up the matter of street traf-
fic signs was referred to the Committee on Public Health and Safety.
The matter of sprinkling the streets on Sundays was referred to
Chairman Folendorf of the Street Committee.
Upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Deaver, it
was decided to purchase ten street intersection traffic signs and two
"no parking" signs for use in front of the Tokay Theater.
Reports of the City Plumbing Inspector for the months of Tune
and July were read and ordered filed.
Trustee Deaver introduced a resolution"calling upon the City Tr
Treasurer to rake a sworn statement of the amount of City funds (if
any) that have been deposited in State and National Banks and to name
the ban's in which City funds ware deposited," which upon his own motion,
seconded by Trustee Black, was laid on the table for one week.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Black, all
members of the Council, the City Engineer and the City Clerk were del-
egated to represent the City of Lodi at the League of California Imni-
c1paliti,s convention to be held at Santa Rosa September 24th to 29th.
Labor and salary claims amounting to $492.12 were allowed and
ordered Ddid.
Upon motion the Board adjourned to meet again at 8:00 p.m.
