The application of William Shank for employment as garbage col- lector ..c.s ordered filed. The Board having on Dar ._ 19th adopted a resolution authorizing the Presic:ent+of� t._. Council to make formal application, in accord-. a Ace with la.', to the State Board of 'Health for a :later supply permit permission was duly received granting the City of Lodi the right "to furni.sh water for domestic uses to the inhabitants of the City from four wells as.described it the report Of tine Bureau of Sanitary Engi- neering, dated Marc'. 16, 1917, " under certain conditions named in th= permit. The permit was ordered riled. The City Clerk submitted a proposal from r.S.Crocker Coapay to sell to the City an addresso ra h machine outfit for 4122.50. The Clerk was instructed to. secure information in regard to other makes. of a:dressing machines. J.X.Newfield, on behalf of the. Business ?.ten's Association, in- vited the Trustees and other city officials to atter_d a meeting at Thompson -Beckman Fall, Tuesday evening, April 17, to listen to a lec- ture by Charles~Cheney of the State City Planning Association, which invitation was accepted with thanks. Georgi D. Langley asked to be retained as city garbage collector, promising to give strict attention to the work in future. Upon motion • Of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Deaver, Langley was reinstated as official city garbager, with the understanding that he is to operate under su:ervision of the Superintendent of Streets, and to serve at the pleasure of the Board. The motion was carried, Trustee Folendorf voting °No." Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Black, the offer of :.;r. North of the General Electric Company to leave with the City a sample electrolier top for exhibition purposes was accepted. George Nance requested the Board to make some disposition of the :Natter of popcorn wagons operating on the streets. The natter was referred to a committee of the whole. The matter of the proposed extension of the sanitary sewers on Church street, south Of Chestnut street, and to accommodate the lots of Mrs. Effie F.Thite,on E.Flm St. was referred to the Utilities Com- mittee. Pourdmaster P.B.irunn requested the Board to place his office upon a straight salary of 420 or «25 =er month. The application was ordered filed. - labor claims amounting to vT33.78, having been passed by the au- diting committee, were allowed and ordered paid..
