'% • Heyes of the Sacramento Gas Company appeared before. the
Hoard -and stated that unjust criticisms regarding his company's busi-
ness in Lodi had been rade ir. the Lodi Sentinel; he resented the as-
sertion that the people of Lodi are being held up and stated that
$1.50 per 1000 feet' is the lowest price at which his company can sell
as of good quality. "e further stated that he was authorized to offer
to sell to the City of Lodi the company's Plant and business at a sac-
rifice, saying the value of the plant had been appraised by E.3.Roilir_s
i- Sons engineer at "89,992.00, to which had been added in extensions
135-88.00, raking a total valuation of $93,580.00. He offered for con-
sideration of the Board of Trustees to sell for 020,000 less than this
appraised value plus value of extensions, or $73,580.00. As an alter-
native proposition Mr. Keyes suggested that the oorpany appoint an
engineer, the city appoint an engineer, and if the two could not agree
they to appoint a third, to appraise the property, and his company
would sell to the City for ten per cent. below the value fixed by
this Board of appraisers. Yr. Keyes was requested to submit his prop-
osition tc the City in writing which he agreed to do.
Jos. K. Newfield, A.Y.Friedberger and M. 0. =colt, represent-
ing the Business Men's Association, "resented to the Board the matter
of better lighting of the streets and suggested that arrangements be
rade whereby all residence Porch lamps may be kept lighted at night,
property owners to pay cost of additional wiring and the city to fur-
nish the current. After due consideration the Board agreed to cooper-
ate with the Business Man's Association in a plan to have all streets
li`:.ted with ore-li rht electroliers, four to the block, the cost of
fixtures to be assessed pro rata to the property frontage and the
city to install, wire and light the same.
