Municipal Building,Lodi, Cal.,March 5,1917.
In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi there were present Trustees Pale, Black, Keeney, Deaver and
Folendorf.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Building and removal permits were granted to the following:
C. L. Taggart, dwelling on Lot 7, Block 8, East' Lodi.
C. L. Taggart, dwelling on Lot 5,' Block 8, East Lodi.
A. A. Kels, brick building on Lot 6, Block 21,City of Lodi.
C. D. white, to remove building from Lot 10, block 16,City
of Loki to west 50 feet of Lots 4 and 5, Block 44, Ivory's Addition.
The application of Lodi Junk Company for permit td place
iron roof on a frame building at 17 West Oak St. was upon motion de-
nied.
Report of the City Marshal for the month of February was
read and ordered filed.
Report of the City Poundmaster for the month of 'February was
read and ordered filed.
President of the Board of Health Dr. S. W. Hopkins reported
that during the month two houses had been released from quarantine;
and that there are now no cases of infectious or contagious diseases
in the City.
City Scavenger Langley requested the City to make arrange-
ments whereby he would be allowed to get all the swill in the City,
proposing that if this is done he would agree to remove to the pub-
lic dumping ground all the rubbish, of all kinds, from the City and
devote all his time to the work. No action was taken.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Truatee Keeney,
the salary of Manager 7.C.Ferguson of the Municipal Baths was fixed
at $85 per month and the compensation of Matron Dora E. Stanfield
was fixed at $1.50 per day.
Upon motion of Trustee Folendorf, seconded by' Trustee Keeney,
the compensation of Charles Hamilton, assistant at the baths, was
fixed at $2.25 per day.
Upon motion Trustee Black was authorized to purchase a lawn
mower for use at the park on South Sacramento street."
Manager Ferguson of the Municipal Baths reported the baths
liberally patronized and asked the Board to provide wooden mats for
the dressing rooms, matting for the corridors, additional plumbing
and disinfectants; also to have the gutters changed to carry water
fro:., the floors and keep .t out of the tank. No for,al action was
taken.
Trustee Deaver moved, seconded by Trustee F•olerdorf, that t
the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance
or resolution in proceeding to compel property owners to build side-
walks on all streets in the City where a maioroty of the sidewalks
are already built or wher over fifty per cent of the property owners
petition for the same. The motion was unanimously carried.
Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the
Stre?t Committee take the necessary steps to improve the Pine Street
crossing of the Southern Pacific tracks. The notion carried unani-
mously.
Miscellaneous bills amounting to $3861.62 were, upon motion
regularly :rade, seconded and carried, allowed and ordered paid.
Health Officer Colman having been 111 and unable to attend
to the duties of his office for some time President of the Board
Dr. S. W. vopkins was upon motion. of Trustee Keeney, seconded by
Trustee 'lack, appointed Health Officer pro ten., with salary at-
tached, to serve during the incapacity of 'Health Officer Colman.
The Board adjourned.
