Municipal 3uilding,Lodi, Cal. ,Feb. 8, 1917.
In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi there were present Trustees Bale, Black, Keeney, Deaver and Fol-
endorf.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Building and removal permits were granted as follows:
W.I.Cutts, to .move barn to rear of E 50 feet of Lot 5, Block
30, City of Lodi.
7. L. Cutts, dwelling and market on E 50 feet of Lot 5, Block
30, City of Lodi.
I. M. Dryer, dwelling on portion of lots 7 and 8, Block 39,
City of Lodi.
Jos. K. Newfield, woodshed and garage at 23 Rose Street.
C. L. Taggart, dwelling Lot 11, Brier Subdivision.
Report of City Marshal Coleman for the ,month of January was
read and ordered filed.
The National Towel Company submitted a proposed contract for
furnishing towel service to the Municipal Baths which was taken under
advisement.
Poundmaster P. B. Nunn submitted his report for the month of
January which was ordered filed.
The Chamber of Commerce of Northern San Joaquin County by its
President B. A. Towne and Secretary George H.. Moore, in a written com-
:^unication, requested the Board to assist the organization to the amount
of $300 from the City Treasury. Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee
Black, that $300 be appropriated for such purpose, which motion was
adopted by unanimous vote of the Board.
J. G. Stafford, Tax valuation expert, addressed the Board and
offered to place his system in effect in the City of Lodi for a con-
sideration. The matter was taken under advisement.
R. E. Welch and W. N. Faust requested the Board to provide a V
fixed income for the fire department, stating the entire expense of the
organization is now borne by a few citizens, mostly business ner_,w lie
every property owner in the City receives benefit therefrom, the present
system being unjust. The Board agreed to give the ratter early consid-
eration.

Bills amounting to ;.11-118.60 were allowed and ordered paid,
Trustee Folendcrf voting "No" on the claim of Southern Pacific Com-
pany of ;1.00 for rent of ground for the arch on Pine street and the
claim of George D. Langley of ;50.00 for scavenger service for the
month of January.
