In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi t_:ere were present Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney, Deaver and Folen- dorf. Minutes of the meetings of December 30, 1916, and January 2,1917, were read and approved. Building permits were granted as follows: J.W.Burke, nursery office, lot 9, block B, Barnhart•Tract. James R. Bull, addition and repairs to dwelling at•429 East Lodi Avenue. 0.A.Schroeder, dwelling lot 2, Brier Subdivision. 0.A.Schroeder, dwelling lot 38, Schroeder Tract. H.S.Clark private garage lot 12, block 7, Hatchins•0ak Street Addition. Fred Gilbeau, add. to building at 19 North Church Street. J.F.Jones, J.C.Ferguson and M.E.Russell applied for employment at the 2 .inicipal Baths. The applications were ordered filed. Renewal of fire insurance on furniture of the public library was referred to Trustee Black. Superintendent Henning was directed to take up with the County authorities the matter of placing lights at all street intersections on Cherokee Lane south of Lodi Avenue. The City Clerk's report for the quarter ending December 31,1916, was read and ordered filed. The recuest of W.P..eutts for permission to remov- shade trees from North Stockton street was referred to the street committee. B. A. Towne, president of the Chamber of Commerce, asked the City for financial assistance to help carry on the promotion work of the organization. The matter was referred to a committee of the whole. M. Newfield, G.A.Gerlach, P. 0.. Rinde, J. W. Holmes and John Zeller urged the Board to take immediate steps to pave West Oak street, from School street to Hitchins Street. Unusual difficulties having been encountered in the movement to pave this street the Board directed the City Attorney to submit a report at the next meeting as to the best method to pursue to effect the paving of this street. F. J. Beaty reported that the roof and fire wall of the city hall needed some repairs to prevent its leaking. He was authorized to do the work. Draft of a bill facilitating the work Of street improvement, 7 -hick it is proposed to introduce in the legislature, was submitted by Senator J.W.Stuckenbruck, which was referred to the City Attorney. City Marshal Coleman was authorized to have the trees in the City park topped, the work to be done under supervision of the Board of Trustees. 7. G. Cary, as supervising architect of the Municipal Baths, filed notice of completion: of the building and recommended its accept- ance. The notice was ordered filed. Miscellaneous claims against the City ano.;nting to $655.66 were presented. Included in this amount was the claim of F.G.Cary for *57.5o, fee claimed as supervising architect of the Municipal Baths, the same having been audited by Trustees Keeney and =olendorf of the Finance CorucitteP. Upon motion regularly Wade, seconded and carried, the bills were ordered paid, Trustee Deaver stating that he voted "Aye"" on all claims except that of F. G. Cary, mentioned above.
