The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened at 8:00
p. m.; present Trustees Hale, Black., Keeney, Deaver and Folendorf.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Euildine permits were granted as follows:
E.P.Boese, private garage lot 10, block 7, Barnhart Tract.
A.H.Boese, Private garage on the east 61 feet of tete west
122 feet of the Phillips land on East Pine Street.
C. S. Randolph, _private garage at '+16 S:uth School street.
Paul Davis, in a coe' urication to tile. Board, offered to sell
the horse, ;farness and wagon, which the City has been renting from
)irn at 015 per month, for t200 or to rent it at 6'25 per month.
The Board upon motion decided to rent the outfit for one
month at x.25, and the Clerk was directed to notify Lr. Davis that the
Board did net desire to purchase the same.
The report of City 'Marshal Coleaen for the month of August
was read and ordered filed.
The monthly report of Plumbing Inspector Herring for August
was rear and ordered filed.
A communication was receive:: from C.H.Ketcham, Supt. cf the
Southern Pacific Company, asking for a formal letter relative to
declination of the. Board of Trustees to permit construction o; a
track alone the west side. 9f Mair street in the City of Lodi. The.
C:ierk was instructed to reply to the effect that as stated under date
of hely 18th the Board read not formally declined to grant a permit
for such construction.
City Attorney G. Y. Steele presented a letter from Manager
Faust of the telephone company stating that his company had granted
the City free telephone service on telephones in the water works,
the City Marshal's office and the City Hall. •
Upon motion of Trustee Black, which motion was duly seconded
and carried unanimously, the following, resolution has adopted:

RESOLVED, That a vote of thanes be extended to the Pacific
Statee Telephone & Telegraph Company and Local rana.ger Faust for the
courtesy shorn t'1e. City in providing free telephone service.
Upon motion of Trustee Folendorf, seconded by Trustee Keeney,
the City Clerk was instructed to notify th,, r naeer of the Telephone
