The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session at.S:00 o'clock p.m. There were present Trustees Deaver,Fol- er.dorf and Black. Trustees Hale and Keeney absent. Trustee Folendorf was selected to act as te::mporary chairman. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. . Building permits were granted as follows: J.A.Anderson Co., addition to fruit shed at Main and Oak Sts. Bare Fruit Corpany,a.dditior: to fruit shed at Main and Pine Sts. Verne C. `whet, private garage at 16 South West Street. J. C. Hatcher, for Mrs. Anna Black, addition to a dwelling at 27 South Cordier Street. Pleb Bros., for D. B. Rinfret, dwellin North Lee Avenue. G.E. Lawrence , President, and J.*' '.ci:ahan , secretary, of the Board of Freeholders, filed written application for an extension or time of sixty days for the preparation of the proposed new charter, whereupon the following resolution was introduced: RESOLUTION. NT REAS, The Board Of Freeholders elected on April 10, 1916, to frame a charter for the City of Lodi, report that they have been unable, within the one hundred and twenty days, to frame such char- ter; and WHEREAS, Said Board of Freeholders have asked this Board of Trustees for an extension of time for a period of sixty days from August 1, 1916, in which time to complete such charter; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Board of Freeholders be granted an extension of time for the completion of the charter of sixty days from August 10, 1916. Trustee Deaver moved, seconded by Trustee Black, the adopt- ion of the resolution as read which motion was carried by the follow- ing vote: Ayes -Trustees Deaver, Black and Folendorf. Nays- *lone. Absent- Trustees Hale and Keeney. 459 The firm of Eaton & Buckley, of Stockton, raving subdivided a tract of land adjoining the City of Lodi on the north -crest filed a written request with the Board asking the city authorities to ap- prove the same whereupon the followirng resolution was introduced: ESOLUTIOR. BE IT RESOLVED, Zr the City Council of the City of Lodi as follows: That the map Of "GERhRD TRACT" be, and trip same hereby is, approved. Upon motion of Trustee Black, sedonded by Trustee Deays-r,the above resolution rra.s adopted by the following vote: Aves- Trustees Black, Deaver and Folerdorf. Nays -°'one. Absent -Trustees Hale and Keeney. A letter from the Railroad Connission addressed to the City Fn&ineer requested the City authorities to advise the COrrrassion what Lr:e City proposes to do regarding suggestion s Trade may 12th in the matter of grade crossings and the closing of certain streets. Upon notion the Clerk was instructed to write the Comm-ission that the Board of Trustees wa.s opposed to the closing of these streets and was convinced that public generally would d'iscour_tenance the closing of any of the streets to avoid railroad grade crossings in the City of Lodi. Upon motion the City Attorney'was requested to take u;. the matter of the suggestions of the Railroad Commission regarding grade crossings with the Chamber Of Commerce, at its meeting Tuesday, Aug- ust 9th,. Trustee Deaver moved, seconded by Trustee Black, that the prop- osition of the Studebaker Bros. Co. for the exchange of a. street sprinkling; kagon for the pneumatic flusher recently contracted for b- acce.L'ted and the President of th? Board be authorized to execute th? necessary papers to effect such exchange. The notion carried.
