The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular
session at.8:00 p.m. There were present Trustees Hale, Deaver Keeney
and Folendorf. TrustPe Black absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
A permit was granted to W. L. Henley to build a private garage
at 414 West Oak street.
August Frey was granted permission to remove a building from lot
21, 'clock 5, Barnhart Tract to a location outside the City.
The report of City Marshal Coleman_ for the month of June was read
and ordered filed.
The report of City Treasurer Lorenz for the quarter ending June
30, 1916, was read and ordered filed.
Pursuant to the call for bids of June 17th proposals for con-
struction of the concrete work for the municipal swimming tank were re-
ceived as follows: Baker & Martin, San Francisco, $2342; Perrin Brothers,
Lodi, $2050; Frederickson Brothers, Lodi, 41897.
Trustee Folendorf moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the con-
sideration of bids for construction of the swimming tank be deferred un-
til Monday, July 10th. The motion carried.
Superintendent C. H. Ketcham of the Southern Pacific Company gave
notice that his company would make written application for a permit to
build a team track on Rain street, crossing walnut, Oak, Pine and Elm
streets, and requested that the application be considered of this date.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver the City Clerk was instructed to
request the Lodi Sentinel to submit a proposal for doing the official
adv-rtising for the City during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1916.
The Clerk was instructed to write the Central California Traction
Company informing them that one of their poles, located at the corner of
Sacramento and Walnut streets, was decayed and in a dangerous condition,
and requesting them to have the same replaced with a new pole.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver the City Attorney was requested to
ascertain under what conditions other cities are obtaining free tele-
pnone service and report his findings to the Board. •
Upon motion of Trustee Folendorf, seconded by Trustee Keeney,
the Board decided to rent a Studebaker air flusher (purchase price
$1100) for use of the street department.
Claims against the City amounting to 43634.30 were allowed and
ordered paid.
Upon motion the Board adjourned to meet again Monday, July 10th
at 8:00 p. m.

The Board of Trustees convened in adjourned session at 8:00 p.m.,
there being present Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney, Folendorf and Deaver.
Minutesof the previous meeting were read and approved.
A permit was granted to Carl Kolthoff to construct. addition to a
dwelling at 332 East Elm street.
The Lodi Sentinel submitted a proposal for doing the official ad-
vertising for the present fiscal year, which upon motion was taken under
advisement.
Superintendent C. H. Ketcham of the Southern Pacific Company made
written application, dated July 3d, asking for a permit to build a side
track crossin.- Valnut, Oak, Pine and Elm streets in the. City of Lodi,

The application of George M. walker for a position at the water
works was read and ordered filed.
The report of City Plumbing Inspector He -Ling -for the month of
June was read and ordered filed.
In the matter of the purchase of a street flusher the following
resolution was introduced:
WHERYAS, The Studebaker Bros. Company of California has offered
to rent to the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi a Studebaker "Pneu-
matic Flusher, as fully described in their catalogue No. 1106, and
vrHE"3iEAS, It appears to this Board that it is to the best inter-
�sts of the City that such flusher be acquired for use in the street
deoartment; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the said offer of the said company be accepted
and th,e President of this Board be, and he hereby is, authorized to en-
ter into a rental contract with the said Studebaker Bros..Company for
the leasing of said Studebaker Pneumatic Flusher, the terms and condi-
tions of such 1=ase to -include the following: The Board at its first
regular• meeting in August will authorize the payment of One E ndred
Dollars ($100) as the first month's rental, agreeing to pay Two Mndred
Dollars ($200) each month thereafter until the sum of Nine Hundred Dol-
lars has been paid, after which the Board of Trustees s'lall have the
o tion to purchase said flusher for the sum of Two Hundred Dollars
(200); the contract also to include delivery of said flusher by the
-Studebaker Bros.Company f. o. b. Lodi, Cal.
Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, the adopt- y
ion of the resolution as read. The motion was carried by the following.
vote: Ayes -Trustees Keeney, Folendorf, Black, Deaver and Hale. Mays -

A. H. Bull appeared before the Board and stated that he had been
unable to secure the installation of a meter at his residence on ac-
count of -a tapping and connection charge standing against property for-
merly owned by him on Lodi Avenue, and requested the Board to order
the installation_ of a meter. The matter was referred to the finance
committee.
In the matter of bids for construction of the municipal swimming
tank Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the contract
be awarded to Frederickson Bros-. on their bid of $1897, with the under-
standing that there is to be -a change in the plans as follows: the la-
dies tank to be 30 feet by 40feet in size, 2 feet deep at- the shal-
low end and 4 feet deep at the deep end.. The motion carried by the
following vote: Ayes -Trustees Black, Keeney, Deaver, Folendorf and
Hale. Nays -None.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Black, the
Hublic Utilities Committee was authorized to make any necessary minor '
changes in the construction of the swim-mimg tank, expenditures for
such purpose not to exceed $100. -
Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Black, that Freder-
ickson Bros. be allowed thirty days from date of signing contract for
construction of the swimming tank for completion of the work. The

The Board of -Trustees cf the City of Lodi convened in regular
session at 8:00 o'clock p.m., there being present Trustees Black, Keeney
and Deaver. Trustees Hale and Folerdorf were absent.
Upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Keeney, Trus-
tee D -F -ver was selected to act as President of the Board pro tem.

Building permits were granted as follows:

Bert Rinfret was granted permission to remove a garage from
lot 7, clock 2, Larson's Pinp Street Addition to lot 4, block 30,City
of Lodi.
In the matter of the rental of a Studebaker Pneumatic Street
Flusher from the Studebaker Bros. Co., the clerk was instructed to re-
turn the .sale contract submitted and inform t' -,em that the Board desires
a lease zontract drawn up i:7 accordance with a resolution passed by

The report of the City Clerk for thR quarter ending June 30th
was read and ordered filed.

In the matter of the application of the southern. Pacific COm-
pa:y for permission to build a side track crossing Walnut, Oak, Pine
and Elm streets in the City of Lodi the Clerk was instructed to write
Supprtntenden' Ketcham in accordance with the r?commendations of Trus-
tee Deaver stating that while the Board had not formally cenied the
permit -.ha building of 3uch track was not considered practical for the
purpose for w_:ich it was intended and that a track built in the center
of tie yards would serve the purpose to better advantage, and suggest-

A letter was received from the National Septic Process Pro-
tective L?axle askinz the City to become a member of the organiza-
tion. The matter was referred to the City attorney.

ordered paid.
Upon motion the Board adjourned to meet again Thursday, July
20th..16, at 8:00 p.m.
