Thi Hoard of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in ad-
journed session at 8:00 p.m., there being present Trustees Hale,Black,
Keene", Deaver and Folendorf.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
• The following building permits were granted:
Haslam 3- Hansen, for Mise Brack, addition to a dwelling on
lot 17, blocs 26, Cit' of Lodi.
George W. Van Noate, private stable at 505 Hilborn street,
Barnhart Tract.The official tond of the City Clerk was read, accerted and
ordered filed with the President of the Board.
The matter of the purchase of the Church of God grove for a
Park was taken up and discussed by members of the Board and others.
A letter from the Woman's Club of Lodi, endors-ing the con-
templated action of the Board in the purchase of the Church of God
grove for a Public Park was read and ordered filed.
Trustee Black introduced the following resolution:
IN THE MATTER OF THE PURCHASE Or BLOCK 32, IN THE CITY OF LODI,• FOR
FOR THE PUR?OSE OF A PUBLIC .PARK. •
WHEREAS, Block 32, of the City of Lodi (formerly town of
:roelumne) as designated on the Nap and Field Notes of the Town Site
of Mokelumne, filed with the Recorder of San Joaquin County, July 17,
1"69. by the Western Pacific Railroad Conrany, now Southern Pacific
Corm--'', is now owned by the CALIFORNIA CAMP MEETING GROUNDS ASSOCIA-
TION;
SSOCIA-
T_ION; and -
HEEREAS, said Association has offered to sell said -block to
the CITY OF LODI, and given this Board of Trustees an option until
the 1st day of qday, A. D. 1916, to Purchase said Block, for the sum
of FIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($8000.00); and -
W: ERFAS, it is for the best interests, and for the common
benefit of the people of said CITY 07 LODI that said city purchase
and own said Bloc'k,-
NOW, THEREFORE, 3E IT RESOLVED that said CITY OF LODI pur-
chase said Block for said sum of EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS (8000.00),
and that said sum of RIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($8000.00) be, and it
is hereby, aPpro-riated and set aside from the General Fund for Such
pur"os , and that the President of this Board of Trustees be, and he
is hereby empowered and authorized to notify said Association that
this Board accepts said Option, and to enter into a valid agreement
with said Association for the purchase of said Block, and to make,
from said Fund, a reasonable deposit, or payment, Upon said purchase
price, the balance to be paid when a full and complete abstract is
furnished, showing a good and merchantable title in the owner thereof,
and that ;his Board take such other and further steps as may be neces-
sary to consumate said purchase in accordance with the laws in such
cases made and provided.
Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, the adopt-
ion of the resolution as read. The motion was carried by the following
vote:
Ayes -Trustees Black, Keeney, Folendorf and Hale.
Nays -Trustee Deaver.
G. M. Steele made written
City attorney, offering to perform
salary of $50 per month.
Trustee Deaver moved that
At-orney. The motion was seconded
application for appointment as
the duties of that•office for a
G. M. Steele be appointed City
by Trustee Keeney and was carried
unanimously. .
Upon *motion made, seconded and carried unanimously the City
Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing a concrete
mixer and asphalt plant for the use of the City.
Upon motion the President of the Board was authorized to
sign: an agreement in duplicate extending the time on the City's con-
tract with the General Electric Company for the purchase of watt hour
motors. .
• The Board adjourned.
