The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened pursuant
to adjournment of Nov. 23d at 8:00 p. m. There were present Trustees
Hale, Keeney, Deaver and Folendorf. Trustee Black absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
W. G. Lattin was granted a per4t to construct a dwelling and
woodshed on lot 3, Brier Subdivision.
T. R. McCuen was granted a permit to add a sleeping porch to
his residence at 428 East Pine street; also to keep a 60 -gallon tank
of gasoline in his private garage on the same property..
The following resolution was introduced 2nd read:

WHEREAS, The Board or Trustees of the City of Lodi, having
in contemplation the laying of 3000 feet of sewer in Hutchins
street in the City of Lodi, did, in compliance with the state'law,
advertise for bids for furnishing 3000"feet of 18 -inch Salt Glazed
Vitrified Sewer Pipe; and
WHWRFAS, In response to such call for bids the following
proposals were. received: From Cladding, McBean & Co., 14,0 per foot;
N. Clark & Sons 47-0 per foot; California Pottery Company 46V per.
foot; the foregoing prices being in the opinion of the Board of
Trustees, determined by a four-fifths vote of all its members,higher
than such pipe can be purchased for in the open market; it is hereby
RESOLVED, That it is to the best interests of the City of Lodi
to purchase the above material in the open market; the City Clerk is
hereby authorized to place an order for the pipe at the best price
obtainable, and the Superintendent of Public Utilities is directed
to proceed with the work as soon as the necessary pipe 1s received.
Trustee Keeney moved the adoption of the resolution as read,
which was seconded by Trustee Folendorf. The motion was carried by
the following vote: Ayes --Trustees Deaver, Keeney, Folendorf and
Hale. Nays --None. Absent --Trustee Black.
A. T. Thomas and George Marling, as a committee from the Fire
Department, asked that the pay of volunteer firemen attending fires
be fixed at ;1.00 per hour, instead of $1.00 for the first hour and
50 cents for each subsequent hour as at present. The matter was re-
ferred to a committee of the whole.
The Board adjourned.
