The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in special
session pursuant to call of the President of the Board at 8:00 p.m.
There were present Trustees Yale, Black, Folendorf and Keeney,trus-
tee Deaver absent.
Minutes of the previous meetirg.were read and approved.
The applicationn of A.S.Anderson for permit to build a public
garage on the south a of lot 1, block 13, City of Lodi, action
upon which was deferred at the meeting of November 1st on account
of its proximity to the Mason Fospital, was taken up for final
disposition. A communication from Kr. Slauson of the Mason Hos-
pital stated they had no objection to the location of the proposed
building and business as applied for. C. R. Van Buskirk, Will Owen
and D. W. Bird protested on behalf of the Congregational Church,
claiming the location of a public garage directly opposite the
church would be objectionable and requested the Board not to grant
the permit. Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Folendorf,
that the permit be granted, which motion was unanimously carried.
F. H. Lee requested the Board to take up the matter of the
purchase of certain lots on West Pine street for a public park.
Frank Praso, 2511 W. Street, Sacramento, requested the Board
to consider his application for permit to run a garbage wagon. No
action was taken.
The Clerk was authorized to purchase a set of Deering's
Codes and General Laws from the Bancroft-Whitney Company at the
special price of $18.00.
Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the
necessary steps be taken to put in 3000 feet of 18-inch storm
sewer on Hutchins street in accordance with plans of the City En-
gineer, by advertising for bids for the necessary pipe, bids to
be received up to and including November 23d. The motion was un-
animously carried.
The City Clerk having suggested a plan for remodeling the
Clerk's office in the municipal building, upon motion regularly
made, seconded and carried, it was decided to proceed with the
work, the matter of changes in the existing walls to be under the
supervision of the City Engineer.
The contract prepared and presented by Superintendent Hen-
ning whereby Mason Brothers agree to purchase electric current for
their ice plant from the City and the City agrees to sellthe same
under certain conditions and restrictions named therein was taken
up for final action.
Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the
City enter into the contract as presented except that the provis-
ion requiring six months notice to terminate the contract be
changed to four months; and that the President of the Board be
authorized to sign the contract for the City of Lodi. The motion
was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Hale, Keeney and
Black. Nays: None. Absent: Deaver and Folendorf; (Trustee Folendorf
was present at roll call but left before the matter of Mason Bros.
contract was taken up).
The Board adjourned.
