Municipal B.iilding,Lodi,Cal.,July 6, 1915.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi cc,_rrened in regu-
lar session Tuesday, July 6, 1915, at 8:00 p.m., Monday the 5th being
a legal holiday. There were present Trustees. Hale, Black, Keeney, Deaver
and Folendorf.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
K. C. Brueci: of the Clark & Henery Construction Company asked
the Board if it would grant a permit to pave West Walnut street under
private contracts provided the.requisite number of signers could be
secured. He was assured the Board desired to see all streets in Lodi
improved and that a permit would be granted upon a proper showing that
a considerable majority of the property owners were desirous of having
the wcri done.
E. F. Van Vlear, for Mss. S.E.E.Housh, applied for a building
permit to add -composition felt roof, put in windows and doors, cell and
finish the open building on the south one-half of lot 13, block 16,West
Oak street. The permit was denied .
The pourdmaster's report for the month of Tune was read and
ordered filed.
The report of Plumbing Inspector Henning was presented, read
and ordered filed. _
The report of the City Clerk for the quarter ending Tune 30,
1915, was read and ordered filed.
A communication was read from F. J. Beaty complaining that
weeds and grass were allowed to grow in the sidewalk space fronting
lots 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12, block 1, Lodi Barnhart Tract contrary to Or-
dinance No. 28. The matter was referred to the street committee.
Upon motion City Marshal Colemen was granted two weeks leave
of absence.
The following resolution was introduced and upon motion of
Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Black, was adopted by unanimous
vote, of the Board.

WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi did, in
compliance with the Stete law, ask for bids for doing the official ad-
vertising of the City of Lodi for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1916;
•; and
WHEREAS, The Lodi Sentinel,. a. newspaper of general circula-
tion, published and circulated in the City of Lodi, and being the only
newspaper published in the City of Lodi, did, on the 23d .day of June,
1915, in response to such call for bids, propose to do. the official
advertising for the City of Lodi for the fiscal year ending June 30,
1916, at the following rates, viz: 75 cents per square for the first
insertion and 50 cents per square for each subsequent insertion; and
there being no other bids; now therefore be it
RESOLVE , That the' Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,
assembled in regular session_ this 6th day of July, 1915, does by this
resolution designate and declare The Lodi Sentinel to be the official
newspaper of the City of Lodi for the purpose of doing the official
advertising during the fiscal year ending June 30, 1916; and does also
hereby accept the proposal of The Lodi Sentinel for doing the official
advertising of the City of Lodi at 75 cents per square for the first
insertion and 50 cents per square for each subsequent insertion; and
a "scuare" within the meaning of this resolution is designated and de-
fined as one inch one single column of 13 ems in width; type for same
to ce set in accordance with specifications furnished printers with
the call for bids; also copies of all ordinances, resolutions, notices
and all other advertising to be furnished to the number of fifty copies
.:ithoat additional cost.
{ Bilis amounting to 01764.49 were allowed and ordered paid.
The Board adjourned.
