The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in ad—
journea session at 8:00 p.m. There ware present Trustees Hale,Black,
Folendorf and Deaver. Absent, 7:5ei ey.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as
corrected.
Building permits were granted to the following:
Gust Boese, private garage at 529 East Locust street
C.J.Weber, addition to dwelling at 402 West Pine street.
City Clerk Acker of Oakdale asked the Board for informa—
tion regarding the Carnegie Library. The Clerk was instructed to
procure and forward the data asked for.
A communication was received from Trustee Breitenbach of
Sonoma requesting the Board to pass a resolution asking that no
change be made in the present state laws regulating the liquor
traffic. Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Folen—
dorf, therfollowing resolution was adopted by the affirmative votes
of Trustees Deaver, Folendorf, Black and Hale.
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, An Act has been introduced in the State Legisla—
ture to change the regulation of the liquor traffic, and
WHEREAS, If such Act becomes a law it will take from local
governing bodies the right to regulate the liquor traffic in their
localities, and
WHEREAS, The law as at present constituted permits the
people, by their votes, to say how they wish their localities to
regulate the liquor traffic, therefore beit
RESOLVED, By the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,
by this resolution adopted, that J. W. Stuck?nbruck, State Senator
from =hia district, and Geo. W. Ashley, Assemblyman from this district,
be requested to vote against, and to use all honorable means to de—
feat any law that will change the present law regulating the liquor
traffic in this state, and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to His
Excellency Gov. Hiram W. Johnson, a copy be sent to Senator J. W.
Stucsonbruck, a copy be sent to Assemblyman Geo. W. Ashley and a
copy be spread on the minutes of this meeting.
The following resolution fixing the curb line on West
Elm street was upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee
Folendorf, adopted by the following vote: Ayes—Deaver, Folendorf,
Black and Hale:
P. SOLUT.ON.
WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi has
granted a permit to Clark & Henery Construction Company to pave,
gutter and curb West Elm Street, from the east line of Schools
Street to the oast line of Hutchins Street, therefore belt hereby
RESOLVED, That in accordance with the provisions of Or—
dinance ,cumber 77, entitled "An Ordinance Amending Section Number
2 of Ordinance Number 38," the curb line on West Elm Street, from

In th., City of Lodi, is hereby fixed and shall be distant from the
division line batwaen the straet and blocks , squar93 or lots abut-
ting on said west Elm Street fifteen (15) feet.
The request of Clark k• Henery Construction_ Company for a
permit to pave the east one-half of the alley in block 9, accompar.-
le` by copy of contract with property owners , • was presented and read.
Action was deferred pending an understanding with the paving com-
partt as to disrosition to be wade of gravel and other material on
streets now under construction.
F. H. Lee addressed the Board in favor of thR city acquir-
ing M- Thayer lots on west Pine street for a city park. The matter
was taken under advlsPmgnt.
The application and bond of A. M. Jones for a license to
conduct a saloon at 104 west Pine street was read and upon notion
was ord?red to take tha course prescrib-d by Ordinarce NO. 79.
Upon :notion regularly rade, seconded and earri�d,the
offer of H. Bechtold to a-11 to the city for ;500 a piece of land
for a dur,.ping ground was accepted and the Clerk was instructed to
prepare a resolution authorizing such purchase:
Trustee Eeaver roved, seconded by Trustee Black; that it
Is the sense of the Board of Trust4es of the. City of Lodi that the.
crown on Eest Elm street should be nine inches and the street com-
mittee is hereby authorized to have provision for the 'camp incor-
porate�l in the specifications for the paving of said V1est Elm street.
