The Board Of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regu— lar session. at 8:00 p.m., all members present. Kinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Permission was granted to G. AndeTson to tear down a barn on lot j, tiock 9, Ems: 10di. The monthly report of Poundrnaster 3. A. Hughes was read and ordered filed. The report of City ;,:arshal Coleman for the month of January was read and ordered filed. A. A. Mayes asked for permission to rer:.ove the trees in front of his property at 412 iortf. Church street. The ratter was referred to t] street committee. Chairman E. E. Deaver of t;P. Revenue and Finance Comr_i.ttee, in a written CGI:ti a niCa:,ion, presented suggestions to the board in the natter of the assessment of property in the City of Lodi during • the present year, recommending the appoi: trent of two boards of ap— praisers, t0 be corltposed of men who by voCatlori or training are Qualified to accurately., fudge values, tc co—operate with the asses— sor in fixing the true values to all assessable property. The CGlrimi— nica.tion was ordered filed and the mater was referred to the com— mittee of thie. whole. Ft.J.Custer, principal Of t..c -ubiic schools, reQuested that the board give a reduced rate for water at. Saler and Emerson schools, which was taken under consideration until the next regular meeting. Principal Custer also requested that the street crossings at Salem school be gravell.d, which was referred to the Street con— mita � .e . E. F. Melon., A.—.Tower, J. _..willms and J. W. Shattuck re— quested the board to take sane action in the matter of the pro— posed opening of Lee and Pleasant Avenues, between Pirie and Ca:: streets, The comnittfee reported that property owners in the district were ready to stand i pert of the expense and requested the board to provide for a share Of the cost. Upon motion of Trustee Foiendorf, seconded by Trustees Black and Keeney, the City Recorder,s salary was increased to $20 per month, effective February 1, 1917. Upon motion of Trustee :ea7 er, seconded by Trustee Black, it was ordered that the necessary sups be taken to extend the water system n.rth of C'Ck street and west of Pleasant Ave:.ue=, according to plans and estimates submitted by the Superintendent of Public Utilities and the City Engineer. The City Cleric was instructed to advertise for bids for fur— nishing the Lipp and other rr+aterial for the abovie—mentioned work, and also to include in the call for proposals the furnishing of :Jibe for the storm sewers to be installed in West Elm. street.
