The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular
session: at 8:00 p.m., full board present, President Hale presiding.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The following building permits were granted:
3. S Riley, stable at 520 Tokay street.
A. U. Middleton, kitchen at 415 Tokay street.
Chas. J. Weber, dwelling on lot 7, block 5, Hutchins Oak Street
Addition.
J. A. Blevirs, repairs on building on lot 8, block 3,City of Lodi.
1. B. Hughes, chicken house at 500 East Bine street.
Perrin Bros.(for J.W.Holmes),private garage at lot 3, block 11,
Hutchins Addition.
Permission was granted to C.E.Peters to install tank and carry
fifty gallons of gasoline on the premises at 431 East Elm street.
Communications were received and ordered filed from City of
Richmond offering fire equipment for sale; City of Oakland asking sup-
port for Constitutional Amendment#19 authorizing consolidation of
cities and counties, etc.; Lodi Volunteer Fire Department complain-
ing of tne obstructions of crossings by freight trains. The clerk was
instructed to communicate with the Southern Pacific Company calling
attention to the complaint of the fire department.
Glenn A. Black applied for a position at the pumping station
and G.L.Birt asked to be given emplcyment as street sweeper. The ap-
plications were ordered filed.
The report of plumbing inspector Henning for the month of Oc-
tober was read and ordered filed.
The certificate of H.B.Colerzen, Superintendent of StreRts, ac-
cepting the improvement by Clark & Henery Construction Company of
Elm street from the west line of the Southern Pacific tracks to the
west line of Main street was read and upon motion of Trustee Black,

seconded by Trustee Keeney, was accepted and ordered filed.
The certificate of H. B. Colemen, Superintendent of Streets,ac-
cepting the improvement by Clark & Henery Construction Company of
Pine street from the east line of Sacramento street to the east lire
of Main street was read and upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded
by Trustee Folendorf, was accepted and ordered filed.
The following resolutions ordering street work were presented,
read and passed by the board:
RESOLVED, That whereas, the Board of Trustees of the City of L
Lodi did, on the 9th day of October, 1914, adopt its Resolution of
Intention, No. 11, to order the hereinafter described work to be done,
and Improvements to be made in said city, which Resolution was duly
and legally published as required by law, as it appears from the affi-
davit of William J. Palmer, now on file in the Office of the City
Clerk of said City; and
WHEREAS, notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention.
30. 11, leaded "Notice cf Improvement" were duly and legally posted
RESOLVED, That Whereas the 3oard of Trustees of the City of
Lodi did, on the 9th day of October, 1914, adopt its Resolution of
Intention No, 10, to order the hereinafter described work to be done,
and improvements to be made in said city, which resolution was duly
and legally published as required by law, as it appears from the
affidavit of William J. Palmer, now on file In the office of the City
Clerk of said city, and
WHERFAS, Notice of the passage of said Resolution of Intention
No. 10, headed °Notice of Improvement° were duly and legally posted
along the line of said contemplated work and improvement, and in
front of all of the property liable to be assessed therefor, in the
form and manner as required by law, Immediately after the passage of
said Resolution of Intention, as appears from the affidavit of H. B.
Colemen, superintendent of streets of said city, who, upon the Com-
pletion of said posting of said notices, forthwith filed said affi-
davit in the office of the City Clerk of the said City of Lodi, in
which affidavit he stated that he completed the posting of said no-
tices on the 14th day of October, 1914; and

of said Resolution of Intention No. 10, and the completion of -tris
posting of the said -"Notice of Improvement", therefore be it,
RESOLVED, That the public interest and convenience require the
work herein described, and th- Board of Trustees of -said City of Lodi,
hereby orders the following work to be done In said City, Towit,-
That Pine street, in said city, between the center lire of Gar -
filed street, and the easterly City Limits be improved by grading the
same for the full width of the roadway from curb to curb, and for the

full length thereof, and by constructing on both sides of said road-
way, and for the full length thereof, concrete curbs and concrete
gutters, said gutters to be fifteen Inches wide, extending from the
curb toward the center of said street, and by paving the remainder of
said roadway, for the full width thereof, from gutter to gutter,and
for the full length thereof, with an M1 Csico asphalt pavement con-
sisting of an El Csico asphaltic wearing surface one inch thick,laid
on an asphaltic concrete foundation four inches thick; all of said
work is.to be done, except where said street has been so graded,and
so paved, guttered and curbed to the official lines and grade, in
accordance with the plans and specifications adopted therefor by
the Board of Trustees of said city, October 9th, 1914, to which
said plans and specifications reference is hereby made for descrip-
tion of said work, and for further particulars.
The City Clerk is -hereby directed to post a notice of said
work, together withthe plans and specifications therefor,.corspicu-
ously for five days or, or near the chamber door of this Board invit-
ing sealed proposals or bids for doing the work hereby ordered. He
is also directed to publish twice a notice inviting such proposals,
and referring to the plans and specifications posted and on file, in
the "Lodi Post", a semi-weekly paper published and circulated in
said city, hereby designated for that purpose.
Said proposals or bids will be received at the office of said
clerk of said city up to 8 o'clock P.M. on Wednesday, the 18th day
of November, 1914.
Upon motion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee nlack, the
foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Aves--Trus-
tees Deaver, Black, Keeney, Folendorf, Hale, hoes --gone. Absent --
None.

affidavit he stated that he completed the posting of said notices on
the loth day of October, 1914; and

of said Resolution of Intention No. 11, and the completion of the
postin,of said "Notice of Improvement", therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the public interest and convenience require the

i That Pine street, in said city, between the east line of Cher-
okee street, and tY,e west line of Grand Avenue, be improved by grad-
ing the same for the full width of the roadway from curb to curb,
and for the full length thereof, and by constructing on both sides
of said roadway, and for the full length thereof, concrete curbs
and co ;.crate gutters, said gutters to be fifteen inches wide, ex-
tending from the curb toward the center of said street, and by
paving the remainder of said roadway, for the full width thereof,
from gutter to gutter, and for the full length thereof, with an
F,1 Csico asphalt pavement consisting of an El Csico asphaltic wear-
ing surface one inch thick, laid on an asphaltic concrete foundation
four inciiss thick; all of said work is to be done, except where said
street has been so graded, an:! so paved, guttered and curbed to the
official lines and grade., in accordance with the plans and specifi-
ca*,ions adopted therefor by the Board of Trustees of said city, Oc-
tober 9th, 1914, to which said plans and specifications reference is
hereby made for description of said work and for further particulars.
The city clerk 1s hereby directed to post a notice of said
work, together with the plans and specifications therefor, conspicu-
ously for five days on or near the chPmber door of this Board invit-
ing sealed proposals or bids for doing trip work hereby ordered. He

and referring to the plans and specifications posted and on fila,
in the"Lodi Post", a semi-weekly paper published and circulated in
said city, hereby designated for that purpose.
Said propasals or bids will be received at the office of said
city ciark of said city up to 8 o'clock p.m. on Wednesday, the 18th
day of _november, 1914.
Upon motion of Trustee Folandorf, seconded by Trustee Black,
the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes --
Trustees Folendorf, Black, Keeney, Deaver, Hale. Noes -None. Absent--

RESOLVED, That whereas, the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi did, on the 9th day of October, 1914, adopt its Resolution of
Intention No. 12, to order the hereinafter described work to.be
done, and improvement" to be made in said city, which Resolution
was duly and legally published as required by law, as it appears
from the affidavit of tNilliam T. Palmer, now on file in the office
of the City Clerk of said city; and
WHEREAS, notices of the passage of said Resolution of Inten-
tion No. 12,.h?aled "Notice of Improvement" were duly and legally
posted along the line of said contemplated work and improvement,
and in front of all of the property liable to be assessed therefor,
in the form and manner as required by law, immediately after the
passage of said Resolution of Intention, as appears from the affi-
davit of H. B. Colemen, superintendent of streets of said .city,

city, hereby designated for that purpose.
Said proposals or bids %7111 be received at the office of said

Upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trust,*P Folandorf,
the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes --
Keeney, Folendorf, Black, Deaver, Hale. Nays --None. Absent --None.
Upon motion re,-ularly made, seconded and carried it was or-
dered that Eaton ?c Buckley, of Stockton, by reimbursed to the amount
of $13.25, bring for taxes paid on the south 40 feet of lot 28, of
Larson13 Addition to Lodi, during the past five years and that the
city accept a deed for this strip of land for str?et purposes, in
accordance with the _proposal of the abova-named firm under date of
October 17, 1914.
