In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi there were present Trustees Montgomery, Hale, Rich, Hickok. and
CroSe.
Minutes of the re:ular meeting of November 1st were read
and approved.
Petitions signed by property owners representing more than
51;4 of the frontage on Last Elm Street and Stoc{tor. Street, from the
South line of Locust Street to the North line of alley running east
and west between. Pine and Oak Streets, requesting the Board to order
the paving of said streets, were presneted and read, and upon motion
regularly made, seconded and carried, the City Engineer was directed
to prepare plans and s_ecifications for said improvements.
Renewal policies of insurance covering 0000 for three years
or, the municipal baths were presented by H.B.Colemari and C. H. Suess
which u_.on Lotion were accepted.
A communication was read from W. N. Duvall, District Secre—
tary of the Board of Fire Underwriters of the Pacific, regarding pro-
posed improvements in the water system and fire department. The con.
runicatior was'ordered filed.
P. W. Webster, General Manager of Central California Traction
Company, appeared before the Board in response to SUMMOns to show
cause wry the franchise of said company should not be revoked on ac—
count of its failure to pave certain streets in the City .of Lodi,
traversed oy its tracks, according to terms of said franchise. Mr.
Webster stated it was impossible to secure the necessary hinds to
make said improvements at this time and asked for further extension
of time by the city, promising that he would use his utmost efforts
to begin saia work within six months from date. City Attorney Steele
stated he had negotiated with said Central California Traction Com—
pany for many months in an effort to have said work done and believed
that they should be granted further time provided they would immedi—
ately proceed to fill in their track and roadbed with materials that
would protect the paving now laid on said streets, said work to be
done to the satisfaction of the'City Engineer. This Mr. Webster
promised would be done in the immediate future. Thereupon Trustee
Hale moved, seconded by Trustee Ric, that, whereas F. W. Webster
in behalf of Central California Traction Company, having appeared
before to Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi in answer to sum—
mons to show cause w..y that company's franchise should not be re—
vo'ked for its failure to pave portions of certain streets, accord—
ing to the terns of said franchise, and having promised the Board .
that temporary paving would be put in until permanent worn could be
done, and that said paenyanent paving would be begun within six
mortis from date, that the matter be postponed for a reasonable
,time. The foregoing Motion was adopted by the affirmative votes of
all members of the Board.
RESOLUTION NO. 111.
WHEREAS, it was the intention of this Board in the month of
July, 1916, to appropriate ;$900.00 from the General Eund of the City
of Lodi and transfer the same to the Library Fund, and
WHHBEAS, by inadvertence no resolution was passed to that
effect; and
WFi..RZAS; the Treasurer of the City of Lodi ;gas heretofore
since said month of July 1918, transferred to the Library Fund Vae sur:
of 4504.66; novr therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the action of the City Treasurer in so trans-
ferring said sun to the Library Fund, be and it is hereby ratified
and approved, and
3E IT FURTIULi RESOLVED, that the balance of said sum of
4900.00, to -,,.,It. the sum of 4395.34 be, and it is .Zereby aauropriated
from. the General Fund, and the City Treasurer is hereby authorized
and directed to transfer said amount of 4395.34 to the Library Fund.

was given second rearing and finally passed by tha following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Rich, Hickok, Hale, Crose and Montgomery.

Trustee Cross Loved, SOConded by Trustee Hickok, that sal-
aries of Fire Department officers and pa„v of firemen be increased as
applied for by the Fire Department Tune 19th, 1920, to be effective
november 1st, in accorda=e with the following schedule:
Chief, per rlonth......................... $50.00
First Asst. Chief, per month ............. 20.00
Second Asst. Chief, per mon:th............ 15.00 -
Foremen (4) Q 45.00 per north............ 20.00

P.e6ular rate for attendance to be increased from 41.00
per hour as now paid to 41.50 for the first hour and
01.00 per hour for each hour thereafter; compensation
for drills to remain the same as heretofore;
Which motion was adopted by unanimous vote of all members
of the 3oard.
Twenty-three building Applications for building permits
were read, granted and ordered filed.
Miscellaneous bills amounting to v2s46.97, having been
passed by the auditing committee , were allowed and ordered paid.
Upon motion regularly made , seconded and adopted, T. L.
Webb, argireer at the water works, was employed to care for the
fire ergine, his corrpensation to be 4010.00 per month in addition
to his regular salary of V150.00 per month.
L'pon motion reo laxly rade and adopted it was decided to
tender the work of janitor at the City Hall to F. H. Foster, an—
gi eer at the water works, his compensation to be 410.00 Der month

in addition to is regular salary of 4150.00 per month.
No further business appearing the Board adjourned until
the next regular meeting, December 6th, 1920.
