In regular session of the -Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi there were present Trustees Montgomery, Hale, Hickok, Rich and Crose. inutes of the '?revious meeting :were read and approved. Communications under dates of October 27th and 23th from San Joa_ i"_ Valley Packing co,:.ta.y regarding their electric bills and notifying the city that the comparr was in financial diffi- culties and unable to meet its obligations, were received and or- dered filed. City Attorney Steele reported that ie had attended a meeting of the creditors of Said company and that payment of approximately twenty-five cents on the dollar would probably be paid. A communication from Sea 'ave Co:roany to Lodi Volunteer Fire De,part:ent was received and ordered filed. Two duly executed easements filed by C. H. Suess grant- ing to the City easements for water and sewer pipes and Pole lines over pertain portions of Lot 59, Barnhart Tract, were upon motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Hickok, ac- cepted and the Clerk ::as directed to have the documents re- corded. Pacific Telephone 3c Telegraph Company applied for pur- chase of one-half interest in four city poles located at Locke - food. and hair. Streets, which application, on notion of Trustee Crose, seconded oy Trustee Hickok, was accepted and the Presi- dent of the Board was authorized to sign the acceptance. Reports of the City Marshal for the month of October, City Plumbing Inspector for the months of September andOctober c.._,. City Treasurer for c'ia•rter erdin: September 30th, were read ano ordered: filed. Twelve aroiications for building periLits were read,grant ed and ordered filed. Manager C. A. Ielley of the i:okelunne Canal Company pre - s e__ted a Lroposed agreement betwen the City of Lodi and said conpary whereby the City would pay for the installation of cer- tain sip -ons on the canal system in consideration of perpetual ri=tht of ;.ne City to empty its storm waters into said company's irri lation canal. The matter was laid over for two weeks. The proposal of the Lodi Sentinel to publish the City's annual report and print one hundred booklets of same for *150 was accepted. ORDINANCE NO. 115. "An Ordinance Repealing that Portion of Ordinance No. 113, providing for the laying of surcharges on the water and electric rates of the City of Lodi, California,~ was read, introduced for passage and laid on the table for not less than five days. Trustee fife^, moved, seconded by Trustee Hickok, that the City Clerk be instructed to write Central California Traction Company, stating that on account of that c ompany's failure to comply with the terms of its franchise by paving North Sacra- mento Street and Lodi Avenue, that said company be cited to ap- pear at the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees, Nov- ember 15th, 1920, and show cause why its franchise should not be forfeited. The fore Loi n_ :motion was adopted by unanimous vote of th a Board. Upon motion of Trustee arose, seconded by.Trustee Hickok, the salary of Deputy :Marshal John E. Reid was increased from 4;125 to ;1+0 per month, from November 1st, 1920. Upon motion of Trustee Rich, seconded by Trustee Hickok, the compensation of Charles D.
