In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Loki, held this date, there were present Trustees Mor_tgoreery,Croee,
Rich, Hale and Hicsok.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read a nd approved.
The Volunteer Fire Department, in a written communication_,
asked the Board to again take up the matter of increased pay for
the firemen. The Fire Department also submitted a schedule and
estieete3 of the cost of additional fire equipment, with a request
that its purchase and installation.be given seriuos consideration_
at ar_ early date. Plays and estimates were also filed by the City
Engineer for the installation, of larger water mains and a water
circulating system in the business center and around the main pack—
ing a _eds. Chief Stark and Secretary Faust of tee .Fire Department
and A. V. Frieeberger, J. K. Newfield and G. A. Keaele advocated
the improvements and extensions mentioned above and were assured
b;> tre President of the Board that the matters would be given early
attention.
Clark e Henery Construction Company having filed its peti—
tion acing for an extension of ninety days time for tae comple—
tion of the improvement of Weat Elm Street from the east line of
Hutchins -Street to its west terminal, the -following resolution
was adopted:
WHEREAS, Clark & Henery Construction Company having filed
wit: t is Board a petition asking for an extension of time in
whish to complete its contract, dated August 5th, 1920, to pave
West Elm Street, from the east line of Hutchins Street to 1te
west terminal, and said petition coming on regularly to be heard,
ane eooc cause appearing therefor, it 13 hereby
RESOLVED, That sald Clark & Henery Construction Compa_ry
be, and it is hereby, granted an extension of Ninety (90) days in
which to corelete said contract.
Upon motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Rich, the
foreecing resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Hale, Rich, Hickok, Crose and Montgomery.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
The City Clerk was instructed to secure an estimate of the
cost of publiski1 g ana printing the annual report, to be submitted
at the next meeting of the Board.
Official notice of the League of California Municipalities
convention to be held at Chico November Sth to lith was received_
andordered filed.
Central California Traction Comeany having filed its ap—
plication with the Railroad Cammission for permit to build a spur
track across Cherokee Lane at Lodi Avenue, and the City of Lodi
having been rotifled,.to appear and show cause,if any, w1y such
permit should not "be granted, City Attorney Steele was delegated
o re_resen_t the City at said hearing, to be held in the Court—
house, Stockton_, October 22nd.
In the matter of the abandoneent of a certain alley in
Le rence Fomestaed Addition, petitioned for by Lawrence Folding
Company September 20th, 1920, the followln ec resolution was in—
troduced by Trustee Crose:
RESOLUTION ABANDONING TEAT CERTAIN ALLEY UNNING NORTHERLY
AND SOUTHERLY BETWEEN LOTS A AND B OF BLOCK NUMBERED THIRTY—EIGHT,
AS PER ,SLP OF LAWRENCE HOMESTEAD ADDITION, FILED FOR RECORD ON
THE 5th DAY OF APRIL, A.D.1920, in BOOK OF MAPS AND PLATS VOL. 10,
PAGE 5, IN THE 0Fc'ICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF THE.COUNTY OF SAY

Chambers of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, County
of Sar. Joaquin:, State of California.
The petition of the LAWRENCE HOLDING COMPANY, a corporation.,
filed hereizt on the 20th dar of September, A.D.1920, praying for the
abandonment or the alley above mentioned hereinafter particularly
described, and t; is Boardhaving on the said 20th day of September,
1920, passed its resolution of intention to order the abandonment
of said alley,
aru. it appearing to the Board and the Board now rinds thattne
Streit Superirterden_t did on the 2'4th day of September, 1920, cause
to be conspicuously posted along the lire of contemplated work de-
scribed In said resolution, to -wit: along the entire length of said
alley at not more than 300 faet in distance apart, six notices of
the passage of said resolution, by posting three of said notices on
the east lire of said alley and three of said notices on the west
line of said alley.
That each of said notices was headed, "Notice of Public Work°,
in ers not less tan one inch in lergtr in legible characters
and stated the fact of the passage of said resolution, its date , and
briefly the work for improvement proposed and referred to saicL-reso-
lutior_ for further particulars.
That said Street Superintendent also caused a notice similar
In substance to those posted as hereinbefore mentioned, to be pub-
lished for a period of more than ter. days by six successive inser-
tions in The Lodi Sentinel, a tri -weekly newspaper published and
circulated In said City of Lodi. All in accordance with the law ana th
the order of this Board.
Th at more that: ter. days have expired since the last.publica-
tion of said notice, and no objections whatsoever have been delivered
to t2,.7? Clerk or filed with t, is Board of Trustees.
That the time prescribed during which an objection to the
.bar_donraen t of said alley ray be made has expired, and no objections
^.a7inv been made, t; is Board has acquired jurisdiction to order the
aba_ cor=ent of said alley.
That it will be for the public interest and benefit of the
City of nodi that said alley be abandoned, and that all the allega-
tions in said petition are true.
T'r"EREFORE IT IS ORDERED that said alley, which rums r�ortrerly
and southerly between Lots A and B of Block Numbered Malrty-eig�,t
(38) as per map of LAWRENCE HOIMSTAED ADDITION, filed for record on
the 5th day of April, A. D. 1920, 1n Book of Maps and Plats Vo1.10,
Page 5, Sar: Joaquin County Records, described as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at aoint on the South line of said Block NUm-
bered Thirty-eight (38) 151.35 feet west of the Southeast corner of
said Block, and running thence Northerly to the North line of said
Block 150.feet west of the Northeast corner of said Block; thence
Westerly to a point in the *forth line of said Block:.: 150 feet East

R.J.Custer filed a petition of electors of the City of Lodi
asking the Board to call a special election to elect a Board of
Freeholders to frame a chaster for the City of Lodi.
Yiscellareous bills amounting to ;1525.51 were allowed and
ordered ,z_id.
