Ir_ regular session: of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi, held this date, there were :,resent Trustees Montgomery, Hale,
Hickok and Ric:. Trustee Crose absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Lodi Business Men's Association, in a written communi-
cation, recommended the painting of parking spaces on the streets
in the business district of the City. The co n nieatior: was ordered
laid on the table and the street committee requested to investigate
and report with recommendations.
The application. of Fred Polensice for permit to construct a
building for a steam laundry on lot 15, block 7, Moran -Handel Ad-
dition, on North Sacramento Street, which was laid over for one
week, was take:: up, and upon motion of Trustee RicA, seconded by
Trustee Hale, the permit was granted.

RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF LODI TO ABANDON A CAERTAIN ALLEY IN THE LAWRENCE
HOMESTEAD M'STEEAD ADDITION, AS P£i? MAP OF SAID ADDITION ON FILE IN THE OF-
FICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF THE COUNTY OF SAN J0AgUIN.

The LAWRENCE HOLDING COMPANY, having filed its verified pe-
tition_ with this Board of Trustees, asking for the abandonment of
the alley hereinafter described, and it appearing to this Board
of Trustees that said alley, sought to be abandoned by said LAW-
RENCE HOLDING COMPANY, was by mistake and inadvertence drawn on
and embodied in the map hereinafter referred to, and that it will
be for the public interest and benefit of the City of Lodi that
said alley be abandoned, and that all the allegations in said pe-
tition are true, -
THEREFORE be it resolved, that it is the intention of this
Board to order the abardonement of said alley, which runs in a
northerly and southerly direction between lots A and B of Block
nu oered Thirty -Eight (38) , as per map of IAWRENCE HOMESTEAD AD-
DITION, riled for record on the 5th day of April, A.D. 1920, in
Book of Maps and Plats, Vol. 10, page 5, San Joaquin County Rec-
ords, described as follows, to -wit: -
Beginning at a point on the south line of said Block
numbered Thirty-eight (381, 151.35 feet west of the Southeast
corner of said Block, and running thence northerly to the North
line of said Block, 150 feet West of the Northeast corner of
said Block; thence Westerly to a point in the North line of said
Block 150 feet East of the Northwest corner of said Block; thence
Southerly to a point in the South line of said Block, 151.35 feet
East of the Southwest corner of said Block; thence Easterly along
the South line of said Block to the point of beginning.
AND the Street Superintendent of the City of Lodi, is here-
by directed and ordered to post and publish the proper notices for
the time and in the manner required by law. Said publication to
be rade in The Lodi Sentinel.

The foregoing resolution of intention was adopted by the
following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Hale, Hickok, Rich and Montgomery.
Noe:: None.
Absent: Trustee Crose.
A petition signed by 229 purported qualified electors of
the City of Lodi, asking the Board of Trustees to call an election
for ti:e purpose or electing a Board of Freeholders to frame a
charter for the City of Lodi, a:d the City Clerk haring verified
said. petition and .having attached thereto his certificate shoing
tr_at t._e names of 206 qualified electors appeared there::n, the City
Attorney advised that accordi:g to law the said petition would have
to be verified and certified to by the County Clerk. The City Clerk
-.;as t.:ereupor_ instructed to have tr.e said petition verified by the
County Clerk.
Upor motion of Trustee Pich, seconded by Trustee Hale,
it was decided to close the Municipal Baths for t e season Sunday,
September 26th.
Miscellareous bills amounting to 44-065.24, having been
passed by the auditing coi=ittee , were allowed and ordered paid.
In the matter of the proposed bond issue for municipal
improven:arts the City M.gineer and Superintendent of.n Public Utili—
ties were instructed to prepare plans, specifications and estimates
for all i:.'provements for !filch it is proposed to bond.
The Superirtendent of Public Utilities was instructed to
ex tend sec,ar, ;,rater and ligiz service to the Sturla Addition as
needed.
No further business appearing the Board adjourned.
