In regular session of the Board of Trustees or the City of
Lodi, held this date, there were present Trustees Montgomery, Hale,
__Loh and Hickok. Trustee Crose absent.
Minutes of the regular adjourned meeting of July 26th were
L' -ad and approved.
Report of the City Marshal for the month of July was read
-L.d ordered filed.
Report of the City Poundnaster for the month of July was
mead and ordered filed.
ORDINANCE N0. 113.
uAn ordinance fixing surcharges on existing water and light
rates in the City of Lodi, California,N coming on for second reading
and final disposition the following amendment to Section 1 thereof
was introduced:
t'Provided, however, that water taken through meters shall be
paid for at the rate of 7 cents per thousand gallons plus monthly
demand charges as follows: For - inch meters, 50 cents; for -inch
meters, 75 cents; for 1 - inch meters, 41.50; for 2 - inch meters,
$6.00; for 3 — inch meters, 413.50; for 4 - inch meters 424.00.0
Trustee Rich moved, seconded by Trustee Hickok, the adopt-
ion of the above amendment, which motion was carried by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees Rich, Hickok, Hale and Montgomery.
Noes: gone.
Absent: Trustee Crose.
Trustee Hale moved, seconded by Trustee Hickok, the adopt-
ion of the a foresaid ordinance No. 113 as amended, which motionwas
carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Hale, Hickok, Rich and Montgomery.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Crose.
Permission was granted F. F. Irey to install a fuel tank
under the sidewalk at the Friedberger-Blodgett building on West Pine
Pine street, near the alley, in block 15.
Elmyra Johnson was granted a permit to remove a building
from the corner of Oak and Main streets to the rear of lot 14, Beck-
man tract on South Sacramento St.
Three applications for building permits were read, granted
and ordered riled..
The draft of a letter prepared by Superintendent Henning
to Miller Fruit Company concerning the fuenishing of electric cur-
rent to that company's dehydrating plant on North Main street, was
read and approved by the Board. The Clerk was directed to have the 1
letter typed and transmitted to said Miller Fruit Company.
R. J. Custer requested the Board of Trustees to adopt a
resolution calling a special election for the purpose of creating
a Board of Freeholders to frame a charter for the City of Lodi.
After discusiion by the Board, City Attorney and others
Trustee Rich moved, seconded by Trustee Hale, that the City Clerk
be instructed to secure information as to the population of Lodi
as shown by the last U.S.census, and also information from various
charter cities of the State as to cost of Freeholders charters and
the benefits to be derived therefrom. The motion was carried.
President o: th? Board of Health Hopkins called atten-
tenticn of the Board to the lace of garbage disposal facilities
and raported that the street sweaping machine was being run without
water, creating a great amount of dust that was dangerous to health.
Biller amounting to 45250.42, having been passed by the
auditing committee, were allowed and ordered paid.
Io further business appearing the Board adjourned until
the :1 -ext regular sleeting. August loth, 1920.
