Monday, July 5th, being a legal holiday, the Board of Trus-
tees of the City of Lodi convened in regular session at 8 o'clock
p.;... Tuesaay, July 6th, 1920, there being present Trustees Montgom-
ery, Hale, Rich and Hickok. Trustee Grose absent.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The report of City Treasurer Lorenz for the quarter ending
June 30, 1920, was read and referred to the finance committee.
L. R. Lumbard applied for a license to operate a card and
pool room at 21i N. Sacramento street, which was granted.
D. W. Bird & Co.-, presented a policy ordered by the Library
Board covering #4000 additional insurance on the contents of the
public library. The Clerk was instructed to refer the bill for
premium to the Library Board for payment.
A communication was received from G. Z. Gaylord of the South-
ern Pao ifie Company stating that his company had decided not to
give a strip of land to increase the width of Main street in the
City of Lodi. The communication was ordered filed.
0. J. Hemphill asked for sewer and water facilities on North
Pleasant Avenue, between Lockeford Street and First Street. The
City Engineer was requested to make a survey and report to the
Board.
A petition was filed by 1. L. Pickering numerously signed
by property owners on Church Street in the City of Lodi asking tae
Board to oraer the improvement of that street froia Lodi Avenue
to the City Limits on the North. It being ascertained that the
owners of more than 51;o of the frontage of property had joined in
the petition, the same was oraered filed and upon motion of Trus
tee Hale, seconded by Trustee Hickok, the City engineer was di-
rected to prepare the eecessary plans and specifications.
Upon motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Hickok,
the publication in the Lodi Sentinel of a list of claims allowed
by the Board at a cost of #10 pe'r month was discontinued.
Sills amounting to 47095.60, having been passed by the au-
diting committee, were allowed and ordered paid.
City Marshal Coleman was granted leave of absence, such leave
to be taken at his cnzvenience.
Upon motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Hickok, the
water rate fo ice machines was fixed at #1.00 per month per horse
power.
3welve applications for building -permits were read, granted n
and ordered filed.
The City Marshal's report for the month of June was read and
ordered filed.
Report of the City Poundmaster for the period ending July 6th
was read and ordered filed.
No further business appearing the Board adjourned until the
next regular meeting Ju.y 19th, 1920.
