In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi there were present Trustees Bale, Montgomery, Crose,
Hictok and Rich.
Minutes of the regular meeting of June 7th, 1920, were
read and approved.
E. F. Nickel applied for a license= to conduct a card
room and pool hall at 19 West Elm Street, which upon motion of
Trustee Rich, seconded by Trustee Hale, was granted, Trustee
Grose voting no.
The annual reports of the Fire Chief and Secretary of
the Fire Department were read and ordered filed.
The Fire Department filed a written request for in -
c reased pay for the officers and men of the Fire Department,
which was ordered filed and the matter taken under advisement
until the next regular meeting.
The matter of compelling property owners to clean up
vacant lots which are a fire menace was taken up and the Marshal
was directed to notify the owners of all lots needing, attention,
and report to the City Attorney for his action the names of
those who neglect or refuse to comply with the law. The fire de-
partment offered to clean up vacant lots for 47.50 per lot, the
proceeds to go into the Firemen's Relief Fund. No definite action
was taken upon the firemen' proposition.
Report of the City Plumbing Inspector for the month
of May was read and ordered. filed.
8. F. Siegfried applied for permission to sell tor-
pedoes and sparklers, which permission was granted upon report
of the Fire Chief that they were not dangerous; fire crackers
and all other forms of fire works being prohibited by ordinance.
This being the time fixed for hearing protests and
objections to the street improvement provided for by Resolution
of Intention No. 28, the City Cleric reported that no protests
had bee n filed and no objectors appearing oefore the Board,
the following resolution was presented by Trustees Crose;

RESOLVED. that whereas the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi, did on the 24th day of May, A. D. 1920, mass its
Resolution of Intention No. 28 to order the hereinafter described work
to be clone and improvement to be made in said City, which Reeolation
of Intention was duly an& legally published as required by law, as ap-
pears from the affidavit of publication in TER IODI SENTINEL made by
C. L. iERCIVAL,now on file in the "office of the City Clerk of said,
City of Lodi; and whereas, notices of the passage of said Resolution
of Intention Bo. 28 headed "NOTICE OP B ROVERENT were duly and
legally posted along the line of said contemplated work and improvement
and in front of all the property liable to be assessed therefor, and
on each and every street and highway in the aeeaee neat &ietriot de-
scribed in said Resolution of Intention, in time, form, meaner and
number as required by law, after the passage of said Resolution of
Intention, as appears from the affidavit of R. B. '0017:. , who person-
ally posted the same, and who, upon the completion of the posting of
said notices, filed said affidavit: in the office of said City Clerk,

The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice of said
work, together with the plans and specifications therefor, conspic—
uously for five days on or near the council chamber door, inviting
sealed proposals or bids for doing the work ordered. He is also
directed to publish three times a notice inviting such proposals,
and referring to the specifications posted or on file, in TbM LODI
SM,M=;II., a tri—weexly newspaper published and circulated in said
City of Lodi, and hereby designated for that purpose, said paper
being the official newspaper of the said City of Lodi.
