Increase in Fees Effective December 31, 1997

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City Clerk's Office has received a letter from MediaOne regarding
addition of new channels to the Lodi Channel Line -Up and increase in fees
effective December 31, 1997 (see copy of letter attached). No Council action
is required.

We are excited to announce the addition of seven new channels to our Lodi Channel Line -Up. effective December 31, 1997. We will be
adding Animal Planet on Cable Channel 54, a channel dedicated to animals and the environments in which they live; Home & Garden
Television on Cable Channel 16, a channel devoted to the home including interior design, gardening, landscaping and hobbies; Outdoor
Life on Cable Channel 69, programming exclusive to outdoor recreation, conservation, wilderness and adventure; The History Channel
on Cable Channel 31, a full slate of exclusive historical documentaries movies and mini-series; MSNBC on Cable Channel 14; a
revolutionary news, talk and information cable network and Internet Service from NBC and Microsoft and The Learning Channel on
Cable Channel 15, programming that inspires and satisfied your natural curiosity and Prevue Guide, a 24 hour rolling programming grid
and guide to assist you with your viewing choices.
In order to bring these new channel offerings we will be removing The Nostalgia Channel and realigning others on our channel line-up
effective December 31, 1997. Encore will move to Cable Channel 59 and the Disney Channel will move to Cable Channel 55.
1997 saw MediaOne launch three new entertainment packages with the convenience of having the remote control and converter box
included in each package. We also began our two year Broadband upgrade and once completed ,we will have the capability to offer new
and expanded services that customers want.
Over the last year, we have also seen increases in our cost of doing business and will change our prices to reflect current costs. The new
pricing is consistent with federal guidelines and will go into effect January 1, 1998.

At least thirty (30) days prior to when these new rates take effect, customers will receive in their monthly bill new channel and price
inserts. Notification of all changes will also appear in the Lodi News Sentinel on December 1, 1997.
