Lodi, Cal., Jane 23, 1919.
In regular adjourned session of the Board of Trustees of the
City of Lodi there were present Trustees Hale, Crose, Montgomery and
Morehead. Trustee Black was absent. Trustee Hale presided.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
'In the matter of the improvement of Lodi Avenue under.the pro-
visions of Resolution of Intention Yo. 20, adopted by the Board of Trus-
tees May 12th, 1919, sealed proposals for doing the work were.received
from Clark & Herery Construction Company, Hugh Crummey, Federal Con-
struction Company, A. Teichert & Sons, Paul & Sayles and Municipal Im-
provaniert Company. After canvassing the bids the following resolution
was introduced by Trustee Crose:
RESOLUTION OF AWARD.
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi did, in open
session:, on the 23d day of Tune, A.D. 1919, publicly open, examine and
declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing certain street work in
said City under and in pursuance of the *Improvement Act of 1911,° the
names of the streets and highways proposed to be improved and the lo-
cation: and character of said proposed work beirg.described in the Res-
olution of Intention ::o. 20 of said Board of Trustees, adopted May 12,
1919, which Resolution of Intention is hereby expressly referred to
for further particulars;
RESOLVED, that the said Board of Trustees hereby rejects all
of said proposals or bids except that next herein mentioned, and hereby
awards the contract for doing said work and improvement to the lowest
responsible bidder, to -wit: CLARK & HENERY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, at
the Prices named in its bid.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to post notice of this award
conspicuously for five (5) days, on or near the chamber door of this
Board of Trustees and publish said notice twice in The Lodi Sentinelu,
a tri -weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city and hereby
designated for that purpose by said Board.
Upon motion of Trustee Crose, seconded by. Trustee Montgomery,.
the foregoing resolution of award was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Crose, Montgomery, Morehead and Hale.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Black.
The City Engineer was instructed to investigate the condi-
tion of sewer in the block between Pleasant and Lee Avenues, Pine
and Elm streets, and report with recommendations.
The City Clerk reported thatro protests had been filed in re-
sponse to notice given ir. Resolution of Intention No. 22, providing
for the improvement of North. Sacramento street, whereupon Trustee
Montgomery moved, seconded by Trustee Morehead, that the matter of or-
dering the work in said street and inviting sealed proposals be post-
poneU and continued until June 30, 19192.at .8 o'clock p.m. The fore-
going motion was adopted by the affirmative votes of all members of
the Board present.
Labor and other bills amounting to 41895:.94, having been au-
dited by the Finance Committee, were allowed and ordered paid.
Upon motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the Board
adjourned to reconvene at 8 o'clock p.m.: Monday, Tune 0 1919.
