The Board of Trustees of the City of Lcdi convened in regu- lar session at 8 o'clock, there being present Trustees B1ack,Hale, Croce, Montgomery and Morehead. L:inutes of :he previoL'.s meeting were read and corrected. Building permits were granted as follows: C.L.VanBuskir:c, to remodel building at 24 West Pine St. August Marklein, dwelling lot 22,block 2,Barnhart Tract. W.C.MoClelland, woodshed, 516 Hilborn St. R.E.Pratt, poultry house 508 N. Church St. Angelo Palermo, ice cream factory,Cor Oak and Garfield. C.A.McKellins, office and garage,W,"0 ft of lot 1,City of Lodi.' W,H.Grahaa, office, lot 19,block B,Barnhart Tract. E.Moon, private garage portion block 15,Barnhart Tract. }.J.Bolinger, dwelling, lot 10,block 1, West Lodi. Pacific Municipalities asked for a picture of the Munici- pal Baths to print on the cover page of their magazine for May. The matter was referred to Chairman Morehead of the P.U.Committee. In the matter of the improvement of Lee Avenue and Locust Street proposals for grading, having, curbs and gutters were re- ceived from ,ederal Construction Company, Municipal Improve- ment Company, Clark & Henery Construction Company, Paul & Sayles and Blanchard, Crocker & Howell. After canvass of the bids resolutions of award were intro- duced and adopted as follows: FRSOLUTION OP AWARD. WIin?'_^A3, the Board of Trustees_o*' t'pe City of Lodi, did, in open session, on the 5th day of May, 1919, publicly open, exam- ine , and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing certain street work in said city, under and in pursuance of the "Improve- ment Act of 1911", the names of the streets and highways pro- posed to be improved and the location and character of said pro- posed work being described in the Resolution of Intention No.18, of said Board of Trustees adopted March 24th. A.H. 1919, which Resolution of Intention is hereby expressly referred to for fur- ther particulars. RESOLVED, that the said Board of Trustees hereby reject all of said proposals or bids emcept that next herein mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improve- ment to the lowest responsikble bodder, towit: CLARK & HETERY CON= STRZJCTION COMPANY, at the prices made in its bid. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post Notice of this award conspicuously for five days, on or near the Council Chamber door of this Board of Trustees and also publish said notice three times in "The Lodi Sentinel", a tri -weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, and hereby designated for that purpose by said Board, ea newspaper being the official newspaper of said City of Lodi. upon motion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded by Trustee °orehead, the foregoing resolutiln of award was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees nntgornery,Morehead, Hale, arose and Bla 2ioes: alone. Absent: None. Absent: None.. The Fire Department asked for 200 _`eet of 3/4 inch rubber hose or the chemical truck. The Clerk was directed to write dealaers or prices. _ T' ^e llerk was instructed to write Central Calif orniaTraction Company regarding the bad condition of their tracks on Sacramento street where repairs were left uncompleted. Pursuant to -call for bids of April Ilth,1919, for furnishing S'.G.V sewer pine, cement pipe, Portland cement, mahole rings,cov- ers and dustpans and server gratings, proposals were received from the following: Ajax Foundry Co., 11. Clark & Sons, Nater Works Sup- ply Co., California Potter y Co., Fuller Lumber Co., W.H.Grahan., H.Gould, H.^.Muddox Co., J.W.Terrell, Gladding, McBean Co.,^red Spiekerman,an•l Ed Spiekerman. Consideration of proposals was post- poned to be taken up at an adjourned meeting. Bills amounting to $4000.03 were alloyed and ordered paid. upon motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee i'ontgomery, the Board a'journed tc seet again at S o%'cloc: p.m., Wednesday, ay 7 , 1919 .
