The Barad of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened in regular
session at 8 o'clock p.m., there being present Trustees Black, Hale,
Keeney, Crose and Montgomery.
Minutes of the previous meeting wefe read and approved.
Building permits were gran4ed as follows:
C. a. Kuch, dwelling, lot 4, block 8, Barnhart Tract.
E. P. Van Vlear, .private garage 224 Hilborn St.
C. L. Van Buskirk, public Garage, lot 5, block 10, City.
W. H. Cutts, fish market, lot 8, block 31, City of Lodi.
J. M. Graham, stable, lot 24, block B, Barnhart Tract.
Amended petition asking for the improvement of Walnut Street 4
with the requisite frontage signed up, was presented by R. Lower,
which was ordered filed.
C. E. Durston made application for the position of manager
of the Municipal Baths. The application was ordered filed.
Miss Martha Rinn and others representing the Parent -Teachers
Association asked the Board to appropriate funds to the amount of
$200 to support a free clinic for three months. The Board offered to
furnish certain equipment for a clinic and advised the delegation
to request the Board of Supervisors to provide the necessary funds.
The Lodi Storage and Milling Company offered to sell to the
city a 60 -foot strip of land for street purposes, between North
School Street and North Sacramento Street, at the North City Limits,
for $1000, whereupon the following resolution was introduced by
Trustee Montgomery:
RESOLUTION NO. 38.
WHEREAS, LODI STORAGE & MILLING COMPANY, a corporation, .are
the owners of the land hereinafter described and have offered to
convey said land to the City of Lodi for the sum of $1000, and
WHEREAS, said land. in the judgement of this Board of Trus-
tees, is required by the City of Lodi for Municipal purposes and it
is for the best interest of said City to acquire and purchase said
land, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that said land be purchased by said City of
Lodi, for said total sum of $1000, and upon the delivery to the
said City of Lodi of a good and sufficient deed, executed by the
owners of said land on or before July 15, 1920, a warrant be drawn
in favor of said LODI STORGAE & MILLING COMPANY, a corporation. in
the sum of $1000, to be delivered to said corporation on or before
said July 20, 19120.
Said land is described as being that certain lot, piece or
parcel of land, situate, lying'and being in the County of San Joa-
quin, State of California, and 'pounded and particularly described
as follows:
"Commencing at the intersection of the east line of North
School Street with the south line of Louie Avenue produced easterly;
running thence easterly and along said production of Louie Avenue
to its intersection with the West line of North Sacramento street
produced northerly; thence northerly and along said *est line of
North Sacramento street produced sixty (60) feet to a point in the
same; thence westerly and along the North line of Louie Avenue pro-
duced easterly to its intersection with the east line of North
School Street produced northerly; thence southerly and along said
production of the east line of North School Street sixty (60) feet
to the point of beginning."
Upon motion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded by Trustee Keeney,
the foregoing resolution, No. 38, was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Montgomery, Keeney, Crose and Black.
Noes: Trustee Hale. -
Absent: None.
City Engineer Barzellotti presented a map indicating by bound-
ary line the extent of territory to be included in a district to be
assessed for the improvement of Lee AAenue, from Locust street to
Lodi Avenue, and the alley running east and west from Lee Avenue td
Hutchins Street, between Pirie and Elm Streets, which map upon mo-
tion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Crose, was approved and
adopted.

RESOLVED, THAT THE PLANS AMD SPECIFICATIOrS FOR THE I..ZROVZ-
ment of Lee Airenue, from the south line of Locust Street to the
North line of Elm Street, and from the south line of Elm Street to
the Forth line of Pine Street, and from the south line of Pine Street
to the :loran line of Oak Street, and from the south line of Oak
Street to the Nortti line of Lodi Avenue, and for the improvement of
the alley running east and west through the block bounded by :fest
Elm Street, Lee Airenue, West Pine Street and Hutchins Street, submit-
ted by L. ARZELLOTTI, City Engineer, be, and the save are hereby
adopted.
The foregoing resolution No. 39 was upon motion of Trustee
Keeney, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, adopted by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees: Keeney, Montgomery, Black, Cross and Hale.
Noes: i7one.
Absent:. None.
Ben Looser asked the Board to provide a suitable piece of
land for a baseball ground and recreation park. Iie was informed the
exnemse would be too great to be considered at this time.
upon notion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded by Trustee Crose,
the Board extended a vote of thanks to theofore Davis for his kind-
ness in keeping the City's flags in repair without charge.
0. H. gillette appeared before the Board and stated that
police protection should be improved in the section in which he lives
on North Sacramento street, stating the fruit sheds are a loafing
place for tramps. The matter was referred to the Public Morals and
Safety Committee.
The resignation of Trustee E. 21. Keeney was on motion reg-
ularly made and seconded, accepted, and upon adoption of the motion
Pr. keeney was assured that it was with sincere regrets that he was
being relieved of his official duties as a member of the Board of
Trustees and that the friendship and best wishes of all the city
officials would go with him to his new place of endeavor.
Miscellaneous bills amounting to $2814.10 were allowed
and ordered paid.
The Board upon motion regularly made, seconded and car-
ried adjourned to meet again at 8 o'clock P.L.,.rMondQay�r Parch 24,1919.
