In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi this date there were present Trustees Black, Keeney, Crose and Montgomery. Trustee rale absent. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Montgomery the following resolution was unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Clerk 13 hereby directed and au- thorized to draw a warrant in favor of the National Septic Process Pro- tective League for Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) payment of all dues in such League up to October 1, 1919, and that such warrant be at once mailed to the Secretary of such League. William A. Spooner, J.K. Newfield, and John J. Fink, a commit- tee of -the Business Mens' Association, applied to the Board for an appro- priation of $300 for promotion. work. The committee was informed the mat- ter would be taken up at a later date. A communication from the San Joaquin County rarm Bureau com- mending the Board for its stand on the saloon closing question was read and ordered filed. The Board received and ordered filed a comnunication from the Pacific Coast Association of Pire Chiefs calling attention to the annual convention to be held. in Oakland September 17th to 20th. Report of Plumbing Inspector Henning for the month of June was read and ordered filed. Keeney: The following resolution was introduced for passage by Trustee RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, The committee of local fruit growers has appeared before this Board, presenting a proposition to bring a division of the "Woman':. Lard Array of America" to Lodi, for the purpose of working dur- ing the summer months,, and has asked this Board to permit said Army to establish headquarters and camp in the City Park upon which the Muni- cipal Baths are located; and WHEREAS, there is, and will be, a shortage of labor in this vicinity during the season for harvesting crops, and WREAS, this Board believes that said Army is doing a work which directly contributes to the winning of the war and should be en- couraged as a war measure, therefore be it RESOLVED, That all the available portion of said Paric, be, and it is hereby donated during the harvest season of 1918, to and for the use of said "Woman's Land Army of America", - IT BEING UNDERSTOOD, that said Army will at all times exercise due care to the end that no damage shall be done to the trees in said park. Upon motion of Trustee Crose, seconded by TrusteeKeeney,the foregoing resolution was adopted- by the affirmative votes -of -a11 members present. ORDINANCE N0. 102, "An Ordirace Making it Unlawful for any Able Bodied Male Per- son Within the City of Lodi, Between the Ages of Eighteen and Fifty - Five Years, to Pail or Refuse to Engage in Some Lawful and Useful Bus- iness or Occupation; Prescribing a Punishment Therefor and Repealing All Parts of Ordinances it Conflict Herewith," was introduced for pas- sage and upon motion of Trustee Crose, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, was laid upon the table for not less than five days. The President of the Board was authorized to sign the annual watt meter contract with General Electric Company. Miscellaneous claims against the City amounting to $1022.0+ having been audited by the Finance Committee were upon motion_ of Trus- tee Montgomery, seconded by TrusteeCrose, allowed and ordered paid. Upon motion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded .by Trustee Crose, the Board adjourned to meet again. at 8 o'clock p.m. Monday, July 22d, 191e. Attest: City Clerk.
