In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi there were present Trustees Black, Keeney and Montgomery. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. In the matter of the application of Stella N. Fowler for a spur track the following resolution was presented: RESOLUTION FOR PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE. In the Matter of the Application) -of- STELLA N. FOWLER ) For a Spur Track) STELLA N. FOWLER, laving on the 24th day of May, 1918, filed her petition with this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, County of San Joaquin, State of California, praying for an Ordinance granting to her, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, the right, privilege and permission to construct, lay down, and maintain, a rail- road track of standard gauge, and to pass with, and operate, with loco- motives and cars, propelled by steam, electricity, or other lawful mo- tive power, over, along, upon and across, certain streets, portions of streets, and other places in the City of Lodi, County of San Joaquin, State of California, and on the 2th day of May, 1918, the said Stella N. Fowler presented to, and there was filed with, this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, an Ordinate in accordance with the prayer of her said petition, and more than five (5) days having elapsed and passed since the introduction and filing of the aforesaid Ordinance with this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi. and the said Ordinance, which is No. 99, having been duly considered at this meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, and it appearing to the satis- faction of this Board of Trustees that the said Stella N. Fowler is entitledto have the said Ordirance granted, and that the said Ordin- ance is just, proper and legal: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the aforesaid Ordinance PTo. 99 be, and the same hereby is, ordered to be published once in The Lodi Sentinel, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and pub- lished in the City of Lodi, County of San Toaquin, State of California, and that said Ordinance shall take effect Thirty (30) days from and after the completion of such publication, and being signed and approved by the President of this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,. who is the executive of said City of Lodi. Dated: Lodi, California, this 3d day of June, 1918. Trustee Keeney moved the adoption of the foregoing resolu- tion, the motion was seconded by Trustee Montgomery, and was thereupon carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Keeney, Montgomery and Black. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Hale and Crose. ORDINAlNCE N0. 98, "An Ordinance Fixing the Salary of the Superintendent of Streets of the City of Lodi,s having been introduced for passage May 23d, and laid on the table for not less than five days, was given final reading and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Keeney, Montgomery and Black. Noes: None. Absent: Trustees Hale and Crosti. A request from the Septic Process Protective League for the payment of $15.00 to the league was referred to the City Attorney to secure further information from the officers of the League of Califor- nia Municipalities. The application from H.E.Robinson for a special permit to carry for sale in the City of Lodi, from June 20th to July 5th, a stock of fireworks, was upon motion of Trustee Feeney, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, denied, and the City Clerk was instructed to no- tify applicant of the action of the Board. Reports or the City Marshal and the City Plumbing Inspector were read and ordered filed. Building permits were granted as follows; Lary A. Larson, addition to a building at No. 10 North Main street. John W. Hieb, Ebenezer Congregational Church building at cor- ner Eden and Garfield streets, Barnhart Tract. San Joaquin County Almond Growers' Association, addition to warehouse on lot 19, block 8, Moran -Handel Tract. The Lodi Volunteer Fire Department submitted for consideration of the Board a new schedule of pay for firemen and requested.the Board to take early action on the same. The matter was laid over.until returp_ of absent members of the Board. Upon recommendation of the Board of Health, Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, the appointment of Dr. J. E. Nel- son to fillthe vacancy on the Board of Health caused by the resignation of August Soucie. The motion was carried by the affirmative votes of all members present. Upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, the City Engineer and City Attorney were authorized to prepare plans and specifications for the paving of LoCuSt street from Cherokee Lane to Hutchins street, as petitioned for by a.majority of property owners on that street. Salaries, labor and miscellaneous claims amounting to $7144.36 were upon motion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded by Trustee Keeney, al- lowed and ordered paid.
