In regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi there were present Trustees Black, Keeney and Montgomery. Absent Trus- tees Hale and Crose. Minutes of the regular meeting of May 6th were read and ap- proved. The application of Quorg Fong Tai and G. Takeuchi for building permits, laid over from May 6th, having been investigated by the Fire• Chief and Chairman_ of the Public Utilities Committee, were granted. Frank Preshour was granted permission to move a building from west Pine street at Pleasant Avenue to Lot 3, bloc k "C", Lodi Barn- hart Tract. Permit was granted to Gottleib Doering to build a private gar- age at +09 West walnut street Permit was granted to Smith k Sons Lumber Company to construct building for a planing mill on lots 5 and 6, block 26, South Main street. The application of Elizabeth Nichols for employment as super- visor of the Children's playground was received and ordered filed. At the request of the Salvage Bureau of the American Red Cross at San. Francisco the following resolution was adopted by the affirma- tive votes of all members present: wHERFAS, The Lodi chapter of the American Red Cross contem- plates the establishment of a salvage department in the City of Lodi, where waste articles of every description may be collected and turned into money for the aid of the American soldiers and sailors in France; therefore be it RESOLVED, That the offices and departments or the City govern- ment are requested to co-operate with the salvage department of the American Red Cross by arranging to turn over to them such waste arti- c1'es as may be of value to them. Upon motion of Trustee Keeney, seconded by Trustee Montgomery, it eras decided to rent the city's steam roller to S. W. McCleary at a rental of $10.00 per day, subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with Street Superintendent -Coleman and Operator Griffith. Chairman Montgomery of the public utilities committee was au- thorized to arrange for a drinking fountain and two rustic benches for the city park on South Sacramento street. The President of the Board was authorized to sign a machine service contract with the Dalton Adding Machine Company, covering care of the City's machine for one year at a cost of $8.00. Labor and salary claims amounting to $872.50 were upon motion of Trustee Montgomery, seconded by Trustee Keeney, allowed and ordered paid. Upon motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the Board adjourned to meet again -at 8 o'clock p.m. Thursday, MF 23d. Attest: �. city clerk..
