City hall, Lodi, California., Pebruray 11, 1918.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi convened at 8 p.m.
pursuant to adjournment of February 4th, trustees Hale, Black, Fol-
endorf and Keeney answering to roll call. Trustee Deaver arrived
later:
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Building and removal permits were granted as follows:
August Marklein, dwelling on lot 16, block 2, Barnhart Tract.
August Marklein, garage ,and woodshed on same property.
George W. Brower, to remove garage from 229 Pleasant Avenue
to Charles Derheim's property at 14 West Lockeford Street.
A resolution Providing for publication and passage of Ordin-
ance No. 94 was introduced, read and adopted as follows:

Central Pacific Railway Company, a corporation, having on the
4th., day of February, 1918, filed its Petition with this, the Board
of Trustees of the City of Lodi, County of San Joaquin, State of Cal-
ifornia, Praying for an Ordinance granting to it, its successors
and assigns, the rift, privilege and permission to construct, lay
down and maintain a railroad track of standard. gauge, and to pass
with, and operate, with locomotives and cars, propelled by steam,
electricity or other lawful motive power, over, along, upon and across
certain streets, portions of streets, and other places in the City of
Lodi, County of San Joaquin, State of California,, and on the same
day the said Central Pacific Railway Company, a Corporation, having
presented to, and filed with, this, the Board of Trustees of the
said City of Lodi, an Ordinance in accordance with the prayer of the
said Petition, and on the 4th., day of February, 1918, at a due and
regular meeting of this Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, by
resolution of this, the Board of Trustees of the City or Lodi, duly
and regularly passed and ad opted, the hearing of the said Petition,
and the said Ordinance was duly and regularly fixed for Monday, the
lith., day of February, 1918, at the hour of 8 o'clock P.M., of
said day, at the Chambers of this, the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi, in the City Hall of the City o: Lodi, and on said llth.,
day of February, 1918, at the hour of 8 o'clock P. M., of said day
at the Chambers of this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi,
more than five (5) days having elapsed and passed since the intro-
duction and filing of said Ordinance, as aforesaid, this, the Board
of Trustees proceeded -to the hearing of said Ordinance , and at said
time and place no protests having been filed against, or ro object-
ions made to, the granting of said Ordinance, this, the Board of
Trustees of the said City of Lodi, proceeded to the hearing of the
said Petition, and the aforesaid Ordinance, and after having con-
sidered the aforesaid Petition, and the aforesaid Ordinance, which is
Ordinance No. 94, and it appearing to the satisfaction of this Board
of Trustees that the said Ordinance is just, proper and legal, and
that the said Petitioner is entitled to have the said Ordinance
granted, and that it is for the best interests of the City of Lodi,
that said Ordinance be granted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the aforesaid Ordinance
No. 94 be, and the same hereby is, granted and ordered to be pub-
lished one time in The Lodi Sentinel, a newspaper of general cir-
culation, printed and published in the City of Lodi, County of San
Joaquin, State of California, and that said Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force Thirty (30) days from and after its passage
and approval, and said Ordinance shall be signed and approved by the
President of this, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi, who
is the Executive of said City of Lodi.

Upon motion of Trustee Black, seconded by Trustee Keeney,the
above resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Hale, Black, Keeney and Folendorf.
Noes: None.
Absent: Trustee Deaver was absent at roll call on this
resolution.
Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Black, that the City
order from California Corrugated Culvert Company traffic signs as fol-
lows: 1,3usiness District',S signs; uResidence District"10 signs; "Rail-
road Crossings" 30 signs, which motion was carried unari;rously,
.Upon notion of Trustee Deaver, seconded by Trustee Keeney, it
was -decided to order 50 posts for street traffic signs.
The President of the Board :vas authorizpd to sign the annual
transformer contract with General Electric Company.
The Dili of 'Tr's. Dora E. Stanfield for service at the Munici-
pal baths for $56.00, and the bill of E. '_' Keeney, for 076.50, for
premium on insurance covering the fire anvine, were allowed and or-
dered paid.
, e proposition to purchase a used delivery Ford for $300.00
for use of the public utilities department was discussed and upon mo-
tion of Trustee Feeney, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, it was decided
to pu~c::asa the sacra if it proved to be in good condition and worth
the price asked.
Sunerintendent Hanning reported t'r_? Statdard 011 Coupar{y de=
sired to have city water service extended to their plant on the
Lockeford road outside the city limits. No action was taken.
