Ir_ regular session of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi there were present Trustees Tale, Black, Keeney, Deaver and Folen- dorf. . corrected. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as The following building permits were granted: Fred Bender, private garae at 412 East Oak Street. J. W. Shattuckk,private garage at 300 West Oak Street. C. D. White, woodshed at 340 Fast Elm Street. Lodi Coffee Club, to repair and remodel the Taylor 'Rouse at the corner of Oak and Sacramento Streets. P. H. Buck Company, to remodel storage shed on Mair. between Elm and Locust Streets. E. E. Deaver, to remove and remodel a building for a dwel- ling from lot 4 to lot 2, blocks 4, Burr Addition. The report of Plumbing Inspector Henning for the month of December, 1917, was read and ordered filed. A. MTower presented options for sale to the City of cer- tain pieces of land necessary for the opening of Lee and Pleasant Aven- ues from: Ed Hutchins, F. A. Dougherty, C. J. Weber, and A. M. Tower, and stated an option had been signed by Mrs. E. Robinnette which would be presented later. The .:.atter was referred to the City Attorney to tale the necessary legal steps with a view of opening the above named streets. D. W. Bird took up with the Board the matter of the City's charge for water used at the High School grounds which had been in- creased by Superintendent Henning from $50 to 1120.00. The matter was referred to a committee of the whole. The City Attorney was directed to have prepared for the next meeting of the Board a resolution of intention to improve North School street. The City Attorney was requested to procure from Mrs. M. Meehel a written option or proposal for the sale to the City of a certain strip of land necessary for the widening of North School street. Trustee Deaver reported that he was ready to submit a deed to the City.and accept a deed from the City in the exchange of certain pieces of land described in a resolution adopted October 17, 1917. Trustee Keeney moved, seconded by Trustee Black, that James Uerlaw be employed by the City to rather and dispose of all ashes,cans rubbish and all other refuse to be placed in the alleys, such employ - Merl to begin January 15th, and his compensation to be $6$ per month. The motion was adopted. Trustee Black moved, seconded by Trustee Folendorf, that lights be placed at all street intersections in the Barnhart Tract where there are no lights at present; also that a light be placed at the intersection of Rush Avenue and the alley in block 42: The mo- tion was carried. Trustee Deaver moved, seconded by Trustee Keeney, that the Central California Traction Company be requested to have all south- bound cars flagged around the corner at South Sacramento street and Lodi Avenue as a safety measure. The motion was adopted: Labor and salary claims amounting to $449.22 were allowed and ordered paid. Upon motion regularly made, seconded and carried, the Board adjourned to Meet again at 8:00 p. m.
