City Hall, City of Lodi
Monday, January 15-1923
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi was called to order by ?resident J. "1.. Shattuck at 8 o'clock
?.M. on the above written date; Trustees Hale, Mettler, Spooner
and Shattuck present; Trustee Hickok absent.
The minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 18th.,1922
were read and approved without correction.
By unanimous consent, the order calling for Public Hearings
and Protests was passed to be taken up later and the Clark direct-
ed to submit communications received:
copy of a contract for an easement across the lands of W.S.
Reese was submitted by the Clerk and the restrictions being within
reason, the President was authorized to sign the same on motion of
Trustee Mettler.
A petition from the engineers at the water works and the driv-
er of the fire truck was read wherein they asked that they be allow -
ed one day off in seven; on motion of 'rustee Spooner, the matter
was refe red to a committee of the whole.
Eleven building -o ermits for structures at a total estimated
cost of 346,025.00 were ordered granted.
The Clerk was directed to order signs for Crescent Avenue
and Supt. Henning was directed to take up the Matter of the fail-
ures of the fire alarm signalling apparatus on motion of Trustee
Spooner.
President Shattuck stated that Mr S.H.Zimmerman was Protest-
ing_ against the :7.C.T.U. fountain in front of his store on Pine
Street on account of its condition; after discussion as to removal
of to fountain, the Board instructed the Superintendent of 'tater
Works to make any repairs needed.
Mr. J. G. Schmiedt being Present, again protested against
further delay in settling flood damage, claims. This matter was
again discussed at length and on motion of Trustee Mettler. refer-
red to a committee of the whole.
On !notion of Trustee Hale, the claim of Ed Spiekerman for
a payment of 3,043.69,(75% of completed work), was ordered paid.
On motion of Trustee Spooner the Board adjourned to 8 o'clock
