Monday, November 20,1922.
Zhe regular meeting of the Board of 'trustees of the City
of Lodi for the third Monday in that month,was called to order by
the President at Fi o'clock P.M., and on call of the roll, 'Trustees
Hale, Hickok, L:ettler, Spooner and Shattuck were present.
The minutes of November 6th, an adjourned regular meeting,
were read and approved without correction.
PUBLIC HEARINGS & PROTESTS:
Mr. Adolph C. Kolb called attention to the omission of
lighting standards on Lockeford Street between Sacramento Street
and the Southern Pacific tracks; Superintendent Henning stated that
they would be installed at once.
Several people from the Southwestern part of the Barnhart
tract appeared in behalf of their claims against the City for storm
water damage during the recent heavy rains; at the suggestion of
City Attorney, G.M.Steele, they were instructed to file claims in
proper form,

The Lodi Business Men's Association addressed a letter to
the Board in regard to their claim for 3?248.75 not allowed on
'november 6th. After lengthy discussion, the Clerk was instructed
to notify the association that they should rake formal application
for their usual advertising allowance and then the claim would be
reconsidered.

Ordinance No. 136 entitled, "AN ORDI2CE ORDERING, CALL-
ING AID PROVIDING FOR, ABD GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL ELECTION TO
BE hr D IN THE CITY OF LODI, CALIFORNIA, ON TUESDAY, THE 19th DAY
0: DEG -IM ER, 1922, FOR TIM PURPOSE CP SU3MITTING TO TIM CUALIFIED
VOTERS Or SAID CITY, TIE': PROPOSIT ION TO INCUR, A BONDED INDEBTEDNESS
BY SAID CITY FOR THE ACrUISITION, CONSTRUCTION, AIM COIFLETION OF
A CERTAIN 11JNICIPAL I20ROV31MNT" was introduced and read in full.
On motion of Trustee Hickok, seconded by Trustee Yettler, and un-
animously carried, the said Ordinance No. 136 was ordered laid over
for not less than five days.
This being the date set by advertisement duly published
for the reception of bids for the bonds issued upon the security
of the unpaid assessr,.ents for the improvement of Hilborn Street as
undertaken under Resolution of Intention. No. 43, on publicly open-
ing and declaring the bids received, the bonds, aggregating 47457.70
were awarded "The Wellington Steacy Coapany", the sole bidder at -
par, accrued interest and i42.30 by the passage of Resolution of '
:ward No. 352 by the following vote:
AYES: Trustees Hale, Yettler, Hickok, Spooner, Shattuck.
NOES: None
This being also the duly advertised date for the reception
of bids for bonds issued upon the security of the unpaid assess-
ments for the improvement of Tokay Street as undertaken under Re-
solutior. of Intention No. 45, on publicly opening and declaring
the bids received, the bonds aggregating ?18,543,50 e:ere awarded -
"Beckman, :,elch & Thompson Co." the sole bidders at par, accrued
interest and =56.50 by the passage of Resolution of Award No. 353
by the following vote:
AYES: lettler, Hickok, Spooner, Hale, Shattuck.

This day being the date set by the Clerk in duly publish-
ed notice for the hearing of protests against the issuance of
bonds on the security of the unpaid assess.nerits on Rose Street
under Resolution of Intention No. 56 and no protests having been
filed up to the hour of 8 o'clock P.M., the Board proceeded to
provide for the issuance of the said bonds by the passage of Re-
solution No. 354, providing for and describing the bonds by the
following vote:
AYES: Trustees Spooner, Hickok, Hale, Mettler, Shattuck.
This day being the date set for the hearing of ,rotests
against the issuance of bcnds on the security of the unpaid ass-
essiaer•ts on Locust Street under Resolution. of Intention No. 55,
and no protests having been received up to the hour of 8 o'clock =
P.M.. the Board proceeded to provide for the issuance of the said
bonds by the passage of Resolution No. 355, providing for and des-
cribing the bonds by the following vote:
AYES: Spooner,I:ickek, Hale, Mettler, Shattuck.
This being the date set for the hearing of protests against
the issuance of bonds on the security of the unpaid assessments on
Oak Street under Resolution of Intention No. 54, and no protests -
having been received up to the hour of 8 o'clock P.M., the Board
proceeded to provide for the issuance of said bonds by the passage
of Resolution No. 356, providing for and describing the bonds,by
the following vote:
AYES: Spooner, Hickok, Hale, 31'ettler, Shattuck.

he City Assessor having collected personal property taxes
during assessment at the 1921 rate, which rate was 1531 on each
;100.00 of assessed valuation higher than the rate set by the 3oard
of 'Trustees for 1922, he was authorized to refund theexcess by the
passage of Resolution No. 357 by the following vote:
A)M-S: Hale, Mettler, Hickok, Spooner, Shattuck.
On application_, 9 building permits aggregating 4. ?'13,250.00
were ordered granted. _
The application of H. N. Madison to erect a sheet metal
building at 18 S. Main Street was denied.
On motion of Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Spooner,bills
amounting to ~3,100.56 were allowed and ordered paid.
City Engineer Barzellotti submitted, plans for the improve-
ment of Hutchins Street, but it appearing that the improve:aent should
go through to Lockeford Street, and the property of G.W. Van Noate
interfering with this extension., a committee consisting of Trustees
Mettler and Spooner were appointed by the President to interview
Yr. Van Noate with the idea of securing a right-of-way for a full
v:idth street.
On motion. of Trustee Hickok, seconded by Trustee Mettler
and duly carried, City Marshal Christensen and Deputy Marshals
Shealor and ;:bite, were allowed x20.00 per month extra as compensa-
tion for use of their personal automobiles.
On motion of Trustee Hickok, adjournment was taken to 8
o'clock P.M. of Monday. November 27, 1922.
