MONDAY, JUNE 19,1922
Az per adjournment of June 12th, the Board of Trustees of the City
of Lodi met in 6410001514 regular session at 8 P.M. and on call of
the roll, Trustees, Hale, Hickok, Mettler were present; Trustees,
Rich and Shattuck absent. Trustee Hale was unanimously chosen to
occupy tete Presidents- chair.
The Clerk stated that owing to the rush of street work and ass.
cssment -matters, he had been unable to prepare the minutes of the
last two meetings of the Board and on notion of Trustee Hickok, the
reading of the -minutes was dispensed with.
The matter of the application of A Moyakis for aL.card room
- license was continued.
The report of the City Plumbing Inspector was received and
ordered filed.
Communications, identical in purport, were read from the S.A.
Gerrard Company and the Peppers Fruit Company asking that sever con-
nection be extended to the new sheds on Oak Street at Main Street and
also that they be given two inch water connection for fire protect-
ion; the Superintendent of Public Utilities was empowered to make the
changes necessary • in order to bring the services asked for to the
lot lines of the petitioners.
On motion of Trustee Mettler, -ORDINANCE NO. 133, AN ORDINANCE
GOVERN/NG THE PARKING or. AUTOMOBILES IN THE CITY OF LODI, was intro-
duced and laid over for not less t'_ian five days.
On motion of Trustee Hickok, ORDINANCE NO. 134, AN -ORDINANCE
-PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF LODI, ITS'AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES SHALL
HAVE THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO GATHER AND COLLECT GARBAGE IN SAID CITY
AND PROVIDING FEES FOR THE COLLECTION THEREOF AND PENALTIES FOR ITS
VIOLATION, vas introduced and also laid over for not less than
five days.
Mr. J.D.Crose and Mr. C.A.Nebb asked that provisions be made
for placing water pipes and valves in the parked centers of Cent-.
ral Avenue and that the Board specify the varieties of -trees -or
shrubs to be planted therein. He also requested that the electro-
- liars for teat portion of Central Avenue be placed in the parked
spaces.
Nine building permits totalling $19,900.00 were granted
The Clerk was directed to advertise f:r the public printing
for the next fiscal year.
The matter of the long -continued absence of Trustee Rich from
the meetings of the Board, he having been absent since November,
1921, was brought up by Trustee Hickok; Mr. Geo. A. Rich and Mt
J.M.McMahon addressed the Board and asked one more week in which
to ascertain if Mr. Rich could be prevailed upon to resign on
account of his long illness, stating that they thought this poss-
ible within the time stated; the Board deferred action until June
26th.
On motion of Trustee Mettler, seconded by Trustee Hickok,
H.E.Ralls,: engineer of the fire department was granted an increase
of pay to $137.50 per month,
Trustee Hickok then moved that adjournment be taken to Mon-
day June 25th,1922, sane carried, Trustee Mettler specifying the
hour of 8 o'clock P.M. -
