Monday, October Seventeenth,1921
The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of
Lodi was called to order by the ?resident at 8 o'clock ?.11. and on
call of the roll there were present, Trustees,i:ontgomery,Crose,
Hickok and Rich; Trustee Hale absent.
This being the day and hour set for the reception of bids
for the furnishing of 9,000 feet of standard i inch galvanized

iron pipe , the Board proceeded to open and publica7.r declare
the proposals submitted by the following named persons and firms:
Republic Supply Company, San Francisco, Cal. '46.20 per C'

It a,psaring from the proposals submitted, that the Repub-
lic Supply Company of S.,n Francisco, Calif. had submitted the low-
est bid, the 3oard a .;arded the contract to that company by the
"assage of Resolution of Sward No. 194 by the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees, Hickok, Crose, Rich, Montgomery.
Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustee, Rale.
At the order of the Board the Clerk was instructed to order
street signs from the Cali:fsrnis State Automobile Association.
The Report of the Fire Chief for the month of September was
read and ordered filed.
The claim of Helen Bennett for injuries received on N.School
Street was.referred. to City Attorney Steele.
A petition signed by eleven property owners asking the Board
to condemn or purchase Lots 5 & 6 in Block 1 of the Moran -Handel
Tract as a connecting link between the opened sections of Wood-
bridge Avenue was received as was also a proposition from the Home -
buil ars Investment & Securities Company offering the above men-
tioned two lots to the City for street purposes at actual cost to
them to date,viz,$1,150.59. 'These lots being liable for assessment
in the matter of the improvement of Church Street, the City Eng-
ineer was directed to estimate the probable cost of the paving in
front of the lots and the cost of running in curb returns, prepare-
ing and paving the approach in the manner in which street inter-
sections are prepared and to submit this estimate to the persons
benefited in order that they might collect the money therefore
and deposit it with the 3oard or with the present owners so that
payment would be guaranteed.Further action in this matter was
laid over until Monday October 24th.
A communication from H.T.Bailey in the matter of the stench
arising from the effluent from the City's septic tanks was ref-
erred to the Clerk with instructions that he assure Mr. Bailey
that temporary steps had been taken to abate the nuisance and that
a permanent remedy would be applied as soon as the Board could
be assured that proposed measures would be effective.

In the matter of the application of P. Rocco and others for
permission to establish and onarate garbage collection service: the
Board stated that they had no powers to prohibit such an enterprise
and that if -hese -en desired to burr out the present collectors, they
might do so; in the mean time, the City's service mould be continued
as heretofore.
Thirteen building permits amounting to ;127,350 were —,-v-"-ted.
City 1`ars'rall rags directed and empotiaered to employ a
motorcycle officer for at least 30 days at $5.06.per day.
The City Attorney ryas instructed to prepare an ordinance
Poverning par:--ing of automobiles in the city.
On motion of Trustee Rich, bills to the amount of 9j3339.38
'raving been a -?proved by the finance committee, were ordered paid.
