Monday October 10,1921.
Pursuant to adjournment taken October 3rd.,the Board of
Trustees of the City of Lodi met in adjourned regular session at
8 o'clock P.M. and on call of the roll there were present Trust-
ees Montgomery, Crose, Hickok and Rich; Trustee Hale absent.
This being the date set in advertisement of the Board
inviting sealed bids for construction of the Storm Sewers on
Hutchins Street and Sargent Road, the Board proceeded to open
and publicly declare the proposals submitted by the following
named persons and firms: -
California Glazed Cement Pipe Company
W. J. Tobin
0. 3. Chaney
Merced Concrete Pipe Company
A.R.McCarty
Hickey & Harmon
;i. J.Schmidt
Ed Spiekerman
:7.H.Graham & Co.
Fredrickson Bros.
It being represented to the board by the Superintendent of
Public Utilities that better or as good prices on pipe could be
obtained in the open market, and that the labor could be done by
local labor at a price equal to the best offer made, the Board
decided to abide by his recommendation and by the adoption of
Resolution No. 193 declared all bids rejected as more partic-
ularly set forth therein, adopting this resolution as now filed
with the City Clerk'by the following vote:
AYES, Trustees, Hickok, Crose, Rich, Montgomery..
NOES, " None
Absent " Hale.
Mr F.A.Dougherty Jr. appeared before the Board in_the mat-
ter of the'application of Mears Peter Rocco, Eugenio Giordano
and David Pesciallo for permission to operate a garbage collect-
ion service in the City; the matter was laid over for one week
by order of the President, none dissenting.
Four building permits were granted for buildings at estim-
ated cost of X0,850.00. Permission was granted to remove a frame
building from the Valley Lumber Company yards to the rear of
509 E. Walnut Street.
The Clerk being in receipt of assurance from the Super-
intendent of the local division of the Southern Pacific Company
that they would soon begin the improvement of Oak Street, this
matter was laid over until further action might become necessary,
the Board still retaining jurisdiction over the contemplated
improvement.
On motion of Trustee Crose, seconded by Trustee Rich, the
President was authorized to sign an agreement .with the Western

States Gas & Electric Company for the use of certain poles in the
alley between Lockeford and Locust Streets, said agreement cover-
ing the liability of each of the contracting parties as more fully
set forth therein.
The Clerk ,was directed to have his annual report published as
required by law and also to obtain from the printer extra copies
for distribution.
