HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 26, 1921 SMCity Hall, City of Lodi, ,riday, _1gust,26-1921 The Special Meetin, of the Board of Trustees called by the President under authorisation ?ranted by Ordinance iao.l of the City of Lodi was called to order at 8.00 P.M. for the consider- ation of such matters as Wight come before it. On call of the roll there were present Trustees, Montgomery,Crose,Hale,Hickok and Rich. The President brought up the :hatter of xranting the Lodi Baseball Association a permit to conduct a "rodeo" at Lawrence Park., all consessions in connection therewith to be confined to the ball park. After short discussion, the permission was 'anted with the understanding that the same would be revoked if any objectionable foatures were allowed. :.lotion to this effect made by Trustee Hickok and seconded by Trustee Rich and unanimously carried. The Board then took up the matter of the resignation of City Marshal MbClure, the same having been requested and filed :with the City Clerk as it appeared that there was strong agitat- ion in favor of his retention. _ There being no formal charges filed, the Board listened to the following gentlemen advocating that Mr McClure continue in office, recommending him for his official efficiency and pledging themselves to share with the members of the Board, the responsib- ility for such retention in office and for his acts in the future: LIr. 7.R.L rson, Lr. J. Oatzert, Lir. 3.n.Thompson, Lir. .7.H.Lorenz, Lr. H.2.L11is,nttorney Glen nest, Lir. .i.n.Spooner, Lrr.C.L.Villinger, Lir. J.C.Keller, Er C.M.Perdun, Mr. Lee Jones, Er Walter Taylor. Er J.D.Crose, Chairman of the Committee on Public :Morals and Safety then addressed the Board and persons present, setting forth his reasons for deeming the present Marshal unsuited to the office, stating that as an individual he would gladly recommend that he be given a chance to rake good but as a representative of those who had elected him, he could not consistently join with those desiring that Er Mc Clure continue as City Marshal. After short discussion, Trustee Hale, seconded by Trustee Hickok, moved that the resignation of Marshal McClure be not accepted, Trustees Hale.Hickok and Rich voting for the motion and Trustee Crose voting against it. The President then declared the motion carried and the matter closed. Trustee Crose advocated the appointment of another officer particularly for the enforcement of Ordinance IJo.118 and the securing of evidence for convictions thereunder; this matter was taken_ under advisement. No further business appearing, the board adjourned, citing the members attention to the fact that adjournment had previously been taken on August 22nd. to August 29th.1921. Attest: Clerk N\/
