canvass the offers received; the Crandlsy Rubber & Supply C:mraxj,7 bidd-
ing 65�4 per foot on 22" hose and 4ai on lz" was the low bidder but their
bid stated that the first named price ..as on 211,(c5rrectreceived by
the clerk later), so their bid was not considered. Bids rangin> from

In order to view the machines on ;which bids were submitted, and
to obtain the.opinidns of users, it ,eras decided to rdthold the award
on this apparatus to a future date.

being installed through the alley running _+orth and South through block
7 of the :?utchins union high_ School A::dition. His protest ;vas answered
by Superintendent ferning, :•rho assured h that the supply would be
much aS-.,eater than that „apacted.
e Central California Traction Company, through its Superinten-
dent, ,'_ir J.J.Hoope= and its Attorney 2:r k.L.Levinsky presented a
petition for an ordinance granting to then the -right to construct,
iay do nn , maintain and operate a spar track :within the limits described
as follows:"Co=iencing for the center line of said Sparc track at the
intersection of the Northerly City.limits line of the City of Lodi,
California, :with a point 22 ft. Bast of the center line of Sacramento
Street in the said City of Lodi, and running thence southerly, 22 ft.
from, and parallel to the center line of said Sacramento Street, a di-,t-
ance of 620 ft.; thence on a gradual curve to the right, a distance of
150 ft. to a point in the center of the present track of the Central
C_.lifor=a Traction Company, which track is located on or near the center
of said Sacramento Street"

protests against the granting of the proposed ordinance and also dir-
ecting publication of a notice stating that the above application had.

Ordinance No.124 , 2 -ranting Central California Traction Company
a Spur Track, was introduced and laid over for not less than five days.
Another petition identical in form with the above and from the same
company, praying for an ordinance granting permission to construct a
spur track within the limits described as follows, was received: -
."Commencing for the center line of said spur track at a point in the
Esat line of Sacramento Street in the City of Lodi, California, which
point of beginning is 122 ft North of the center line of Daisy Avenue
produced asterly to the Last line of Said Sacramento Street, thence

protests against the proposed granting of this ordinance, also directing
publication of notice of this.intention in the "lodi Sentinel", by the

Ordinance Ito -125 , 1 anting the ^,entral California Traction Co-
mpany the franchise prayed for in the above, :gas introduced and laid

Bills to the amount of $13,222.38 having been approved by the
auditing committee, !ere ordered paid on motion of Trustee Rich.
No further business appearing, the Board adjourned until Tues-
day August 2nd, at 1.30

The regular adjourns& meeting of the Board of Trustees, set for
this day on adjournment August 1st., res called to order at 1.30 2.11.
and on call of the roll there .tare present Trustees i"ontgomery, Grose,
Hale and Rich. Trustee Hickok absent.
The Board :_aving delayed action in the matter of a;varding the
as
purche of transformers to this date it alas determined that though
the Pittsburgh Transformer Comp's bid was the lowest in price
yet o -,-,,in- to the distance to the nearest available stock,(Pittsburgh),
and also to the fact that the aerformance factors of these transformers
were not mentioned in the bid, that the award should be made to the
'Wagner Electric Company. This -was done by the adoption of Resolution
Y:o.159 declaring all other bids rejected by the following vote: -
Ayes, Trustees, Rich, Halle, Crose and *70ntgomery.
Noes, Truste,s, cone.
Absent, Trustees, Hickok.
In the ,natter of award on fire -hose;- The Board having received
infor-ation that this *material could be bought at greater advantage
in•the open market, Resolution 11o.160 ,vas adopted, declaring all bids
rejected and announcing the determination of the Board to purchase in
the open market by the following four-fifths vote of all members: -
ayes, Trustees, Hale, Crose, Rich and i:ontgomery.

By unanimous consent of the Board, the President ,aas directed to
admonish the Clark- Hencry Construction Company that construction

season is practically here.
