The minutes of the last mesting held September 20, 1937 were read, approved as reed and so indorsed by the L;ayor. Mr. John L'mdenstock addressed the Council in regard to the cumulation of mtPr in the gutter at the Southeast corner of Lee Avenue and ',lalnut Street. The City Engineer was directed to install repairs at once. The application of C. A. UcO^erty for permission to install two storage tanks for fuel and diesel oil on the South end of Lot 14, Block 49 Brier & Keeney Addition was granted on motion of Councilman Graffigna, seconded by Councilman Neihe. A letter of appreciation was received from the Mokelumne Rod and ^,un Club congratulating the Council on its success in clearing up the waters of the bokelamne River. The quarterly report of the Chief of the ?ire Department for the quarter ended September 30, 1937 was received, read and ordered filed; likewise the reports of the Chief of Police and of the City Poundmaster for the month of September. The application of the 'Valley Lumber Company for the marking off of a driveway ant-=nce on Fast SLS Street near wain was referr-ed to the Superintendent of Streets with instructions that the necessary marking be installed on the pavement. Freshour was authorized to purchase a lawn sweeper for the approxi=ete amount of $42.50. 14 building permits Nos. 1777 to and including 1792 with the exception of No. 1778 and 1788 were ordered granted. The applications last referred to were refused as being within the fire limits and the proposed constructions not conforming to existing ordinances. Claims No. 30035 to and including No. 30224 in the amount of t24,082.P.1 were allowed and ordered paid on motion of CounciLan Spooaer seconded by Counci'l.nn .eihe. In the matter of the petition for the annexation of "Beck`an Aldition", the Clerk reported two protests received which were read and considered by the Council. He also submitted a certificate from the Ccun+.y Assessor stating that there were 14 separate parcels of property in the proposed subdivision and it appearing that the protests were less in n._ber than a majority of the o -.hers of separate parcels of property in this tract, Pesolution No. 930 was introduced on the motion of Councilman CIark. seconded by Councilman Graffigna, reed at length by the Clerk and considered b;• the Council. r.. The ballots used at such election and the holdin7 and conducting of such election, shall �e in ccnfor"ity, as near as ray be, with the laws of this state concerning general elections, except as herein otherwise provided. The Dolls shall be open from 6:00 A.I.S. to 7:00 P.11Z. of said day. The jud?es and inspector of such election for each polling place shall, i^aediately, or the closing of the polls, count the ballots, -ake up, certify and seal the ballots and tally sheets of the ballots cast at their respective Dolling places, doing so, as nearly practicable, in the manner provided in the laws of this State relating,to general elections, and they shall thereupon deliver the ballots, tally sheets and returns to and deposit the sem-3 with the City Clerk of this City. City :call, City of Lodi October 15, 1937 . e City Council of the City of Lodi met in special session at 7:30 o'clock PX. of October 15, 1937, all members present and signing waiver of notice and consent to this meeting for the purpose of consider- ing the purchase of power _factor improvement apparatus. ;.:r E. C. Nelson of General 'Electric Company explained the savings possible under the new "P-6" Schedule of Pacific Gas and Electric Company if power factor was improved through installment of capicators or synchron- ous condensor. On motion of Councilman Weibe, seconded by Councilman Spooner, the City Clerk was directed to advertise for such apparatus as mi-7#tt be specif- ied by L:r John A. Henning, Superintendent of Public Utilities, bids on the same to be received No --ember 1, 1937. -he purpose of the meeting being accomplished, the City Council adjourned at the order of the L:ayor, none dissenting.
