P311. of :::onlay, April 19, 1937. Councilmen, :lar::, sra:figna, Spooner, ±reihe and Steele present, none absent. The minutes of the last regular neeting held April 5, 1937 were read, approved as read and so indorsed by the lliyor. Ho persons desiring to address the Council at this ti=e, the order of Public llearings :w -s pessed and the City Council proceeded to the opening and canvassing of bids received on a sewage pump. The Clerk report=_d the due publication of the t;otice of Intention to receive sealed proposals on the same and the Council then proceeded to publicly open and declare the bin's received . Proposals on the sewage pump were received frc= t^e following firms: Fairbanks, '::orse and Company, Victor Equipment Company, Allis ChaL:.ers 1. ufacturing Company, and the Sterling Pump Corporation. After the opening of the bids and at the direction of the 12--jor, the City En?ineer was directed to tabulate the same and report to the Council at an adjourned meeting to be held at 4:00 o'clock P.M. of Tuesday, April 20, 1937. The Council then proceeded to the opening of bids on circuit . breakers and a relay panel. Proposals .sere received from :general Electric Company, Pacific Electric Yanufacturing Cor+pany, H. B. Squires Company, and 7.estinghouse Electric and Llnufacturing Cor -many. All proposals were ordered referred to :•-.. john %L. Henning, Superintendent of Public Utilities - to report to the Council at an adjourned meetin_7 to be held at 4:00 o'clock P...i. of T::esday, April 2C, 1937. The Clerk ren_orted that he had received a check from the State Compensaticn Insurance land for $1,068.00,being 37-"-% of all premiums paid by this City,for the food record during the past year. The Clerk read a letter from the Department of Public .forks stating the amount of increased gasoline tax apportionment accruing to the City on account of the four latest annexations of new territory. A letter was received from the Lodi Business Len's ;association in re-ard to '`etter street lighting in the business district. Bulletins - were received from the League of California Mnicipalities and from the California 1'nicipal Utilities Association regarding:pending:le3islat ion. A petition signed by the total number of owners of real property in the 300 block o`_' Cherry Street asking that the City apply to the works Progess Administration for a project to install curbs and gutters was received and on mgtion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman uraffigna, such anplication was arvroved by the adoption of Resolution ?Io. 905. L:r. I. A. Hearing recom--ended that the City execute a purchase a�reeinant with the 0 --neral Electric Company for electric globes delivery to be mede through H. S. Hook. L:r. 'renning's recozrendetion was approved on motion of CourciLman =raffigna, seconded by Counciirian ;.eihe. Seven arrlications for business licenses ::o. 8439 to and including No. 84445 were allo:•:ed and ordered granted. It the order of the Cc,ncil the Clerk was directed to notify the Chief of Police that all ordinences prohibiting the display of merchandise on the streets of the City --ust be strictly enforced, particularly as _ ;ards automobiles :w 1d for sale. " LTi STUD CIT_'. the City Council of the City of Lodi (San Joaquin Ccuhty, California) Lid or. the 22nd day of carch, 1937, adopt its Resolution No. 900,wherein it declared its intention to abandon a certain portion of "Stur'_a Street", :more definitely described in the said Resolution No. 900, reference to which is hereby Lade for further particulars; and *)=ZAS, it appears that the Street Superintendent of said city duly and rgT:larly caused to be conspicuously posted along the line of that portion of said street so intended to be abandoned, at not more than 300 feet in distonce apart, and more than three in all, notices of tae passage of said resolution, as more fully appears by the affidavit of Clinton Henning, Street Superintendent of said City of Lodi, who personally posted said notices as aforesaid, which affidavit is nor, on file in the office of the clerk of said city, and whereas it ap^ears that said notice was duly and regularly published in The Lodi News -Sentinel, a na:sniper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in said city, and designated by said City Council for that nur-ose, for a period of amore than ten days, as required by Law, such pu'-)lication being proved by the affidavit of DeL--nar B. On the rscom erdation ofy A. Henning that the current regulators .'or sale by the TurlockIrrigatior- District were not of a sufficient size for this City's grovring population and because of the irregular voltage furnished by the Pacific Gas & Electric Company the Clerk'.was directed to advertise for -current regulators of an approved type end s_reci-ications to be furnished by !.s.
