This regular _-:eetin� of the City Ccuncil of the City of Lodi
was called to order at 8:C0 o`clock F.M., of L:onday, April 5, 1337,
CounciLmen Clark, Craffigra, Ssooner and Weihe, present, iayor 6teele a`.sent
In the absence of the Llayor and on motion of Ccuncilman Craffigna, seconded
by Councilman :leihe, Councilman Spooner was chosen Layor protea and opened
the meeting.
The minutes of the regular meetings of Llarch 1 and :.:arch 15 and
of the ad ourned reetings held :.;arch 16, 22 and ?-9th were read approved as
read and so indorsed by the ; ayor.
Yr. D. Beisel appeared befo_e the Council regarding an accident
at the corner of hilborn and Garfield Streets caused by the alleged broken
condition of t^e street curbing at that intersect' -on. At the direction
of the Iayor, :_`r. Beisel was referred to the ^ity Attorney and the
Superintendent of Streets was directed to =ake any repairs necessary in
the CLrbing.
The quarterly report of the Secretary of the Lodi Volunteer
:ire Department was recevied, read and ordered _filed. Likewise, the
monthly reports of the Chief of Police and the City Foundmaster.
The Clerk read a notice of the annual spring meetin; of the
California Sewage :'forks As_eciation and at the direction of the ;.:ayor,
Sir. Fred 4. Yost and ;.:r. C. 0. Henning were authorized to represent the
City.
Business Licenses No. 402 to 407 inclusive were allowed and ordered
granted with the exception that license No. 402 be only granted on the approval
of the Chief of Police. This was done on the motion of Councilman
Graffigna, seconded by Councilrmn '7eihe.
The Council read a letter from the Intercoast Hospitalization
Insurance Association stating the plans of operation and asking that the
Council allow City Employees to make group payrents by deductions from
their salaries or wages. No objections were made by the Council to the
Assocs_etion soliciting the city's employees, but the Council wished it
strictly understood that they did not add their endorsement to this plan.
In the :atter of the widening of State Highway No. 53
South of Lodi Lake Park, the Clerk reported that L. T. L:ason and Clara 4.
Mason, his wife had made and delivered a deed to the !,ity for lands lying
between the old and new highway and .".e also presented a deed from the City
to the State of California for a strip of land necessary to straighten out
the roadway. Execution of this deed was authorized by the adoption of
Resolution No. -904,

The foregoing cesolutioc 11o. 904 was then passed and adopted
by the following vote:
Ayes: Councilmen, vraffigaa, V.eihe, Clark and Spooner
:hoes; Council -men, Pone.
Absent: Councilman, Steele.
In the .Latter of the abatement of the building at 617 North
Sacramento Street, the L:avor again ordered the hearing set for this evening
adjourned to the date of the next regular meeting of the Council.
It appearing that the liability insurance policy covering the
Lake Park would expire April 18th, the Clerk was directed to renew the
policy with the same insuror.
On motion of Council: --an lraffigna, seconded by Councilman Weihe,
the sale of Let 24, in Block 3 of the Lodi Barnhart Tract to the M,,]anuel
Lutheran Church was authorized, which sale to be for the sum of X500.00
and taxes advanced by the City in the amount of X121.77, the Church to pay
$321.77 on deliven• of a deed and the balance of $300.00 within one year
with interest at ore -half per cent per month.
The City Clerk reported that Ordinance Pio. 234 approving the
annexation of Louie .venue 4,ddition, Ordinance :;o. 235 anprcving the annex-
ation of Cherokee Addition, Crdir-ance ::o. 236 approving the annexation
of Sargent Road Addition, together :•Pith the transcript of the proceedings
in each case had been filed with the Secretary of State at Sacramento on
YErch 30, 1937.

16 building pe.—Sts Nos. 1668 to and including Pio. 1683 for
structures to cost $45,625 were allowed and ordered granted.
Clair..s No. 28668 to and including No. 28852 in the total amount
cf $26,341.76 were alloyed and ordered paid on notion of Councilman
:lark, seconded by Councilman -reffigaa.
On the recommendation of lar. T. A. Henning, Superintendent of
Public utilities, the purchase of three current regulators from the
Turlock Irrigation District at a price of $2,500.00 was allowed on motion
of Councilman rraffigna, seconded by Councilman .feihe sub<ect to the
inspection and approval of kr. Henning.
