HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - March 29, 1937438 COUNCIL CHAMBERS -- CITY COUNCIL OTY HALL - - CITY OF LOCI Monday, Karch 29, 1937 Pursuant to the adjournment taken from the adjcurred =meting of :arch 22, 1937, the City Council met at 7:30 o'clock P.L.. on Monday, Zarch 29 1937. Councilmen, Cl-rk, Uraffigna, Spooner, Weihe and Steele present, Mone absent. This being the date set for the reception of sealed bids on 8 inch pipe, cast iron tees and nine fire hydrants and the Clerk producing the groper affidavits of due publication of notice thereof, the Council proceeded to publicly open and declare the bids received. Proposals on pipe and fittings were received from Johns t1ansville, American Cast Iron Pipe Company, Pacific Cast Iron Pipe Company and United States Pipe and Foundry Company. Proposals on fire hydrants were received from M. Greenberg and Sons, Rensselaer 7alve Company, Nater gorks Supply Company and from Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, After consideration of the above bids, the Council awarded the contract for pipe and fittings to United States Pine and Foundry Company on its alternative bid of $3,625.20 by the adoption of Resolution of award No. 902. RESCLUTION OF AMARD N0. 902 - ZFEAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi, California did, in open session, on the 29th day of E:arch, 1937, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed proposals or bids for furnishing the following described materials to said City, to -wit: (1) 3,300 ft. of 8 inch Class 150 Cast Iron ?ipe (2) Nine 8 x 8 x 6 in. Cast Iron Tees with 6 in. side Flange (3) ?ive 8 x 8 x 6 in. Three -bell Tees. (4) Three 8 x 8 x 8 in. Three -bell Tees. RrSC= , that the said City Council hereby rejects all of said prorosals or bids except that next herein mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing said work and improvement to the lowest responsible bidder, tc- mit. The contract for the furnishing of fire hydrants was awarded to Pensselaer Valve Company at the price named in its bid of $583.82 by the adoption of Resolution of Award No. 903. A=-.,.": Councilmen, None. In the matter of the abatement of the premises at 617 North Sacranento Street under provisions of Ordinance No. 200, the Clerk presented the affidavits of C. S. Jackson, Chief of Folice as to the posting and mailing of notices to the owner of the said pret:ises, wherein the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.l.I. of Liarch 29, 1937 was set as the date for hearing on condemnation— No one appearing, the hearing was put over until the date of the next regular meeting on April 5, 1937 at the direction of the Mayor. The Clerk reported that he had received the sum of $210.27 from 31rs. Nettie L:. L'urray as the City's share of crops grown on the Pioneer Park Site, and stated that Mxs. Murray desired a renewal of the lease for one year. On motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded b;T Councilman Graffigna, Resolution No. 901 was introduced, read by the Clerk and considered by the Council. Steele, Vayor of this City be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to rake, execute and deliver said lease and :. F. Blakely, City Clerk is hereby directed to attest to the execution thereof. Second reading was omitted and the foregoing ordinance was then passed and adopted and ordered to print by the following vote: A`S'S: Councilmen, Graffigna, Weihe, Clark, Spooner and Steele NOIR: Councilmen, None. ABS -MI -IT: Councilmen, .Ione. The Layor then approved and signed the ordinance. On motion of Councilman Graffigna, seconded by Councilman Weihe the City Planning Commission was authorized and instructed to :old hearings on the City Plan Ordinance on April 12, 1937 and Lay 10, 1937. Lotion carried. 440 COUNCIL CHAMBERS -- CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - - CITY OF LOCI Postmaster C I. Jones then addressed the Council in regard to the widening of the sidewalks in front of the Federal Building at the corner of School and Walnut Streets. Mr. Jones was assured by the Mayor that the City would take proper action in this .atter. On the application of lir. John A. Henning, Superintendent of Public :4orks, the Clerk was directed to advertise for four Circuit Breakers in accordance with the specifications to be furnished by Mr. Henning. The Council adjourned at 8:35 o'clock P.M. at the order of the 11%yor, none dissenting. The foregoing minutes of an adjouradd regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi were read at a sub- sequent meeting of said Council held April 5, 1937 and approved without correction.
