HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - November 16, 1936379 COUNCIL CHAMBERS -- CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL - - CITY OF LODI L:onday, November 16,1936 The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular meeting at 8 -CO o'clock P.L. of L:onday, november 15, 1936; Councilmen Clark, Graffigna, Weihe and Steele present, Councilman Spooner absent on account of sickness. .. The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting held November 9th, 1936 were read, arproved as read and so indorsed by the Yayor. No persons appearing before the Council, the order of public hearings was passed and the Council proceeded to hear communications and reports. Cn motion of Councilman 7,raffigna, seconded by C-uncilman Xeihe applications for business licenses Nos. 7875 to 7891 inclusive were allowed and licenses ordered issued. At the suzgestion of the Mayor and on motion of CounciLman aeihe, seconded by Councilran Clark, Superintendent of Public Utilities, T. A. Henning was instructed to install a light at the intersection of Lockeford and Church Streets. In the matter of the installation of traffic control signs on Central Avenue, Resolution No. 871, a resolution approving the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Works of the State of California for the expenditure of gasoline tax money was approved and ado:ted by the following vote: A'IL'S: CounciL.en Weihe, Graffigna, Clark and Steele ?CES: Council. en None ABSMTT: Cou nciLman Spooner P.SSCLUTION N.C. 971 RESOLVED, by the City Council of.the City'of Lodi, County of San Toacuin, State -of California: That GX. ST IME, Mayor of the City of Lodi and T. F. ffi.4MY, City Clerk of said City be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of this City a t:emorandum of .agreement with the Department of Pnblic Works, State of California for the expenditure of gasoline taxes accrued to the credit of "Streets of Major Importance" in this City, a copy of which Eemorandum is annexed hereto and made a part hereof. At the request of L:r. Robert !�. Searls, Resolution No. 870 was introduced on motion of Councilman Weihe, seconded by Councilman Graffigna and read at length by the Clerk. RESCLUTICN NO. 870 7TMERY ;.5, in conformity with the offer of the Pacific Gas and Electric Coz:pany to the City of Lodi dated September 18, 1936, the City has heretofore carried out proceedings under the act of February 26, 1897, for the destruction of the bonds voted for its Wokelumne power project and has executed a deed conveying all of the lard involved in said project to the Pacific Cas and Electric Company, ::C71, T."IF CP , in further confo=.ity with said offer dated Sep ter;ber 18, 1936, the City Council 'hereby declares affirmatively and - positively that it is the intention of the City of Lodi and of theCity Council of said City to abandon cc=letely its proposed power project on the L:okelumne River, and to take no further steps whatever toward reviving the same.
