HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - August 17, 193634S COUNCIL CHAMBERS - - CITY COUNCIL CITY HALL -- CITY OF LODI Monday, August 17, 1333 The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session on Monday, August 17, 1330 at 8:00 o'clock P. M., Councilmen, Clark, Graffigne, Spooner, fel:._ Mad Steele ?resent; none absent. The minutes of the meeting of August 3, 1935 were read, approved es read end so indorsed by the Mayor_ Dr. W. J. Co_,field, Secretary of the Lodi Library Board and Miss Amy L. Boynton, Librarian appeared and presented the proposed library budget for the fiscal year 19305-1337. On order of the Mayor it was ordered filed to be considered at the time when the Council should adopt the general budget. Lir. J.C.F.Burson addressed the Council 1n regards to the necessity of annexing the southerly part of the Lodi Barnhart Tract to the City. He was in_ormed that the City Attorney and City Clerk would prepare legal petitions to be circulated at an early date. A. letter was received from the Lodi-Japanese-Aterioan Citizen's League inviting the Council to send representatives to their inaugural meeting to be held on August 28, 1336 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. The Clerk was directed to acknowledge receipt of the communication and inform the Secretary of this association that the Council would have a representative present. The Clerk read the call for the annual convention of the League of ^n1+fornia ::unlctpa11ties to be heli at Santa Monica, September 9, 10, 11, end 12 and stated that he had a supply of identification certificates available for the uCe of delegates. 13 building permits Nos. 151t to 1529 for structures to cost 55225.00 were allo••:ed and ordered granted. Application No. 1523 for additions to the Star Restaurant at 29 North Sacramento Street was referred to the City Engineer's Department as the structure did not seem to conform to the restrictions on buildings in that locality. Claims Nos. 27040 to and including 27135 In the amount of ,?10,536.20 were allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Spooner, seconded by Councilman Uraffigna. On motion of Councilman Spooner, the City Council adjourned to the day and date of its next regular meeting to be held September 8, 1935 as the first Monday In September will be a holiday.
