Monday, July 20, 1936.
The City Council of the City of Lodi met in regular session at
8:00 o'clock ?. M. on Monday, July 20, 1936. Councilmen Clark, Grafflgna,
Spooner, Weihe and Steele present, none absent.
The minutes of the regular meeting of July 6, 1936 were read,
approved as read and so indorsed by the Mayor.
No persons appearing at this time, the order of Public Hearings
was passed and the Council proceeded to hear communications and reports.
(1) A letter from the Woman's -Building Association thanking the
City Council for Its assistance in placing signs pointing to the Model
Home.
(2) A letter from the San Joaquin Truckmen's Association thanking
the Council for the use of the Council Chambers for their meeting of July 9th.
(3) A letter from the Secretary of the Lodi Volunteer Fire
Department requesting that the Council appear in a body at the opening
session of the Fourteenth Annual State Firemen's Convention on August 11th,
1936 at 9:00 o'clock A.M. All Councilmen present signified their intentions
of being present in accordance with the invitation as extended.
The Clerk read excerpts from a bulletin from J. H. Wade, Director,
District No. 3, Works Progress.Administratlon, setting forth the new rules
effective July 1, 1936 governing Works Progress Administration Projects.
The Clerk submitted copies of a uniform traffic ordinance.as
prepared by the Legal Department of the League of California Municipalities.
All the foregoing communications and bulletins were ordered filed.
The quarterly report of the City Treasurer and that of the City
Clerk for the quarter ending June 30, 1936 were received, read and ordered
filed without comment.
Payment of the sum of Two Thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars in
consideration for the balance of the Mason lands at Lake Park was authorized
by the adoption of Resolution No. 853.
RESOLLTtION N0. 853.
WHEREAS, L. T. MASON and CLARA H. MASON, his wife, did on the 15th
day of June, 1936 tender the City of Lodi a Bargain and Sale Deed to certain
properties abutting on property heretofore acquired by said City from said
grantors, and;
99iIEEREsS, on the 6th day of July, 1936 the City Council of said City
did ay motion direct the City Clerk to accept said deed for and on behalf of
said City, and said City Clerk did so accept said deed and filed the same for
rew rd with the County Recorder of San Joaquin County, State of California,'
and said deed was filed for record on the 8th day of July, 1936 and recorded
In Volume 542 of "Official Records" at Page 275 thereof;
NOW, T-10REFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the sum of Two Thousand
4$2,000.00) Dollars is hereby appropriated from any moneys in the General
Fund In said City not heretofore appropriated and the Mayor Is hereby directed
to draw his warrant on the City Treasurer in the said amount of Two Thousand
($2,000.00) Dollars, made payable to L. T. Mason and Clara E. Mason, his wife,
as full payment for the lands In said deed so conveyed.

The foregoing Resolution No. 853 was then passed and adopted by
the following vote:
AYES: COUNCILMEN, Spooner, Graffigna, Clark, Welhe and Steele
NOES: COUNCILMEN, None

On the reco=endatior_ of Mr. John A. Henning, Superintendent of
Public Utilities, the ='ayor was authorized to execute an agreement with the
Sout^ern Pacific Co=any for an over -head crossing of a 2500 Volt electric
line immediately ;forth of the property of the Super Mold Corporation on
North Sacramento Str=et. This was done on motion_ of Councilman 3eihe,
seconded by Councilman vraffigna and carried unanimously.
Claims No. 26827 to 26887 inclusive in the amount of $5,528.59
including the $2,000.00 directed to be paid by Resolution No. 853 were
allowed and ordered paid on motion of Councilman Claris, seconded by
Councilman nelhe.
The Mayor appointed the following committee to prepare a suitable
plaque to be placed on or near the Pioneer Cak in Pioneer Park, fir. Henry
F. Ellis, Mr. Harvey S. Clark and Mayor C. Y. Steele. On motion of Council-
man Spooner, seconded by Councilman deihe, the appointment of this committee
was confirmed and preparation of the plaque authorized.
Seven building permits, applications ?Io. 1504 to 1510 inclusive
for structures to cost $14,575.00 were ordered granted; Application No. 1508
subject to the approval of the City Engineer in regard to service stationts
driveways.
At 8:57 o'clock ?.M. the Ueyor called the Council into executive
session and it so continued to sit until 9:20 o'clock P.M. when open
meeting was resumed. At 9:23 o(clock P -M. the City Council adjourned at
the order of the Mayor, none dissenting, until the day and hour of its nest
regular meeting.
